Newby deserves a decent run in the team now but wont get it.

To be honest everything rings true to what the wukkies said on their forum when we appointed Edmo "Doesn't play locals" "long ball football" "negative".

Hopefully things change.

Can't moan with an away point but still don't think Edmo will be the one to push us on from where we are currently. The quote from Hayman stinks of negativity and us yet again worrying about the opposition. I think Edmo is great for getting teams out of the shit but that's pretty much if (before anyone mentions the Conference North...we should have won that at a canter with the team we had).

Like I say though, a good point away from home but let's please try and play a bit of passing football and get at teams rather than giving them long balls to eat up all day long.

I think VDB was signed after Edmo contacted Paul Simpson ( ex Carlisle manager) for an opinion. He was manager of shrewsbury when VDB was there.

He is either a really good player who isnt being played in the right way or he is DOG DEEDY.

Is have taken a point before the game so its a good result for me.

Still worried about our severe lack being able to score more than one goal in a game. ( once so far)

Unless we are planning on playing for clean sheets every week and winning one nil then something needs changing.

Our best and brightest talent over pre season still resides on the bench and is getting 10 minutes every now and then.

1-1 draw after coming back from a goal down. Our first point on the road but to be brutally honest Braintree were poor. However,we were no better and we persist in the long ball game which Braintree dealt with easily. Our goal came from a neat bit of football on the floor so why can we not have more of this.Cooky tried hard as always and forced the keeper to save with his legs, one in each half. With our close season signings I expected us to play a better class of football but we don't seem a better side at all.If we persist in this type of football we will occupy the bottom half of the National League and any thoughts of play-offs and promotion are pie in the sky at the moment.VDB was very poor and doesn't warrant a start in my opinion.
Anyhow roll on Tuesday and Lincoln City to see what type of football we can produce. :scarf:

Don't like being negative, but anyone still thinking that at this stage should make an appointment at the mental health clinic tomorrow morning.

A point wasn't a good result, Braintree were shite and there for the taking but unfortunately we were just as bad.

It was a bloody awful game to watch with virtually no football played by either side. Might have been our first away point but that just simply wasn't good enough, not by a long way. Unsure why VdB is getting so much stick, he was poor yes but so was almost everybody else.

The Cowps substitution seemed a strange one at the time but he was excellent when he came on, thats his best position without a doubt and I'd have him in the side over Lacey like a shot. Cosgrove coming on for Cook was just plain stupid, looking for a winner and we take our main goal threat off. Although Cook did have 2 great chances that he should've put away but went straight at the keeper both times. Pilks excellent when he came on, he's just a very very good player and we miss him massively when he doesn't play as with him we actually look like we might be a threat going forward.

Draw a fair result but should have been so much more, we need to be much much better than that.

Walker's local and he was playing Cowps but everyone said he was rubbish. Newby is in the squad and on the bench, and presumably being treated as a professional with training every week. Surely that is better than being farmed out on loan. His time will come. Are there any others that are being overlooked?

I agree about long ball though!

Said exactly the same last season, playing him at RB as in the past is no good for the team, or him.

According to Andy Legg yesterday, Lincoln play more hoofball than us so it ain't going to be pleasant! Bring your neck braces.....

What I don't get is virtually everyone who goes to a Barrow match has said the same thing since the start of last season, when we play it on the deck we look decent, we look like we're a threat and there's goals in us but the only one who doesn't seem to understand that is the man in charge.....it's baffling!!
Wouldn't it be great to just get at Lincoln on Tuesday, play football that will keep us interested......and give Newby at least 45 minutes.

To be fair, I think the 'hoofball' criticism is exaggerated. In the games I have seen, we often play reasonable passing football out of defence and in midfield. However, my complaint is that the final ball tends to be a punt in the air towards Cook, which becomes fairly predictable. I don't think we regularly hoof it from the back. When we do, it is probably out of frustration at being closed down and/or lack of movement at the front.

I think we mostly agree that we could do better by using wide men more and by having someone in midfield who can carry the ball forward before releasing it. Our goals return is pretty pathetic really, so something needs to change.

Having Pilks back now and Wilson hopefully in a few weeks will help our attack approach! Newby needs more game time , he is a willing runner , takes on players , which we need! A point away from home is decent but I've seen highlights of Braintree and they were not that great In previous games, should of attacked them from the first whistle !

Well done 'Jim'
Someone who can actually identify between hoofball and long passing. We've played some decent football already this season but not been given any credit for it. Even when we've won there is always some numb nuts who says the opposition were rubbish. First objective is to pass into feet. Second is to pass into a space. Third is to not get caught on the ball so get rid.
This is a tough league and the other teams are aggressive and talented but we've done ok so far, let's give them some credit and get off their backs.

I wasn't there, but BBC RC said in the commentary that we did attack from the off and looked early on like we had come for a win. They seemed very surprised given the more defensive approach in previous away games.
