Understated the Barrow support, I thought. 120+ and very noisy.Middleton Nick wrote:It was the same last year. They seem to inflate the figures

Re: FGR v Barrow match thread
nice to see Barrow rated by the away fans;-
this is from pitchfork on their forum;-
A great match, especially for lots of families who made their first trip ever to The New Lawn. I know we ought to win our home games, but against the best team I have seen this season, I'm not complaining about a draw and no goals conceded again

Superb results. Not many teams keep a clean sheet against FGR. Big game Tuesday night against the liars now, they are on a roll

That wasn't the match i watched, both teams were good and deserved the point. Best 0-0 I've seen for years. I think the report was from the local paper

I really hope they go up or we do.
I really can't go back to place again.
Weird place, weird people,
It's a [SwearFilter] village near nothing, where do these people come from? Over 2000, never.
2 local oddballs hiding behind a policeman at end trying to wind up away fans. Strange strange people.

What a all round stonking day that was! A decent journey down on the coach we were in the pub meeting up with our exiles just after one, and after a few good ales and a carry in of decent fish and chips from the takeaway next door it was soon time to move on!
We luckily managed to miss the heavy rain and joined the masses on the local bus up cardiac hill to the ground, half an hour before kick off.
Noticed the stewards were a bit more accommodating of us all this year on our arrival at the ground, and kick off was soon upon us. The game ebbed and flowed for the first ten minutes before FGR had the first of their three or four chances to score they eventually went on to hit the post and crossbar some may say luck was on our side, but our defence did worked manfully to try and stifle the FGR attack, creaking but unbreached for the first forty five we gave a decent account for ourselves but it was FGR who were the ones that admittedly had the better of the chances.
Second half was a more even affair with both defences on their mettle, our midfield and attack started to impose themselves more but again chances at both ends were denied by either solid defending or good saves by both keepers. Good vocal backing by the travelling Bluebirds throughout was warmly appreciated by the players and coaching staff at the end.
Referee was fair in the main but the liner on the stand side in the second half gave some rather baffling decisions mostly against us. Thought the away support was about right as I did a rough head count that came to 88, but there never looked like 2000 plus in the ground. Overall a fair result happy not to concede against a team that most certainly will be top three contenders come the end of season.

Re: FGR v Barrow match thread
A good day out, Barrow fans were brilliant and a credit to the town ,FGR are a good team and play football, a draw is a good result and is something we can build on.
Re: FGR v Barrow match thread
Hi guys.
Just a note to say, a very entertaining game yesterday, I really enjoyed it, and think sharing a point each was a fair result, especially as The Daggers did us all the favour of also taking just 1 point home yesterday. I thought one goal in the last ten minutes was sure to seal it for either side, but it didn't come.
Thanks to your travelling fans who came for the away day, it is a long haul, and your voice in the ground made for a great atmosphere.
Good luck with the rest of your season.
Cheers

Re: FGR v Barrow match thread
The best game I've seen all season.
0-0 suggests it was a dire affair - far from it. Exciting encounter and some nice football being played by both sides.
I liked their stadium - surrounded by trees - nice pleasant surroundings. Great atmosphere from both sets of fans...
No hassle off anyone and nice efficient service at their ticket office. My printer ink ran out whilst printing out my on-line purchase of my ticket before traveling. However, after providing neccessary details of the purchase, I was handed a ticket - a swift effcient response.
Nice real ale in The Village Inn and nice Fish 'N' Chips from the adjacent chippy. A good day!
