For me it would be a crying shame if we didn't have Danny Livesey in our ranks next season.

Always leads by example, a real steadying influence on Moussa Diarra who looked a real rookie when he first came into the team and I'm sure Danny's assured steadiness helped turn him into the colossus he eventually became.

I said in an earlier post that I wasn't overly concerned for once who we let go or brought in as Paul Cox usually gets it right in the end. But for me Danny would take some replacing.

If anyone thought that Rowe was anything other than a lazy [SwearFilter] for us, they are mis-remembering his spell here. And fans at every club he was at prior to that seem to have a similar opinion of him.
To suggest Livesey might be overrated is to openly admit you don't really have a clue about football. Probably had about two or three poor matches in three years.

Rowe had a bit of skill but hadn't the first idea or motivation (fair enough the situation at the club probably didn't help at the time) but he has done nowt for a number of sides, not just us.

Livesey I definitely support giving a contract to..didn't always convince when he first came but has got the hang of the level of football now and never hides...we'd only have to pay similar money and hope it works IMO. What we need is to keep him and add someone of the same standard to put pressure on. He's taken a fair bit of stick along the way (Halifax and both Dovers for starters we were miles over the top) but he's put in a decent shift.

Don't think Paul Cox has any particular sentimentality when it comes to dislodging fans favourites. I'm sure he will look at Livesey as objectively as he can.

As demonstrated by the end of season awards, Danny is held in high esteem by supporters and players alike. Thought his standards during early/mid season were as high as they've ever been. Because of this his less than perfect performances are more memorable and there were a few of these towards the end of the season (Bromley in particular comes to mind though the entire team performance was putrid). Was also given a rather torrid time by Miller against Dover but as we know Miller is currently in a different class. Still very effective with his back to the goal, very brave and with 3-4 goals in him a season from set pieces.

If I were creating the perfect eleven to win a championship then these days Danny might not be in the squad. However, we are attempting to incrementally improve within a constrained budget. In this respect it feels like there are higher priorities and if Danny is willing to accept a reasonable 1 year extension for me it would be a no brainer. If he were to go, he'd bring just the type of experience that a club like Fylde would need to stiffen their defence in the first year playing at a higher level. I would not want him to go there.

Having said all that if Cox thinks he can attract better then I'd have to trust his judgement. He doesn't get it wrong very often.
