In my personal opinion I’m happy enough that the club has streamlined the viewed non essential staff & used the financial savings to strengthen the playing coaching & football operational staff ie director of football.

Surely everyone wants us to shake off our Non League persona & hopefully strengthen across the board, The club on paper will loose eye watering amounts as we build up the infrastructure over the next few years & hopefully we increase our attendances/sponsorships/revenue to ease the cash flows as we build up & when things settle down these positions will get filled again & we continue to cement our place as a proper FL club.

Looks like the bod are learning from previous mistakes & are wiser from them.

The Pete Wild appointment fills me full of optimism but it has to be said the bod offering PB the gig still gives me nightmares so back to school bod & keep learning on the fly.

I agree with you but it doesn't look like we are going to get the standard of coverage that Simmo gave and far more slowly too.

I cant say I've noticed any difference in the club news coming through the official media channels and i haven't really noticed any significant difference in the content either. We have had club interviews with the manager and new players?

Wondering how much of an essential a “media manager” is? As far as I could see “Simmo” attempted a few jocular interviews with new and existing players, and also his remit appeared to be to conduct post match interviews with the incumbent manager (some being painfully contrived and embarrassing, particularly after a bad result); unless I missed something, there wasn’t a lot more. He came across as an ok bloke, but his role didn’t really appear as essential/meaningful within the structure of the club. Adam’s post match interviews were much more telling (long may they continue), and RC interactions weren’t generally that bad either. Think we can easily make do without a replacement for “Simmo”. All his work seemed to be limited to output on the club website and nowhere else, which is ok, but only up to a point, when the cost is factored in. PW’s regular blog, and the expectation of plentiful interviews on radio, and even TV, should suffice. Matt Dodd doesn’t do a bad job when called upon either.

We had someone who was deemed surplus to requirements who went the extra mile but the club wanted an extra 170 mile on top of that without recompense I’m hearing. Something had to give ultimately and we are where we are we only ever get rid of good people if they ask for more than certain people deem they are worth ultimately. Budgets are budget’s I suppose as I’m sure we wouldn’t get rid of good people just as a cost saving exercise. Or would we! Football these days is a cutthroat business whose neck is on the block next!

Money is money and surely we have to cut our cloth accordingly. New director of football, ongoing ground improvements, new playing staff, travel bills and hotel bills, permanent training home investment ….. the money has to come from somewhere as the owners are not a bottomless pit. There will be casualties along the journey and good people will lose their jobs because we are a work in progress that will keep moving in many directions until we are established. All these other clubs have been in the league years setting their stall out….we have just begun. Once really major investments are completed and we are settled then you can moan but not until then. Remember PH is not a successful accountant from being poor at his job. He is just looking after the money and if that means that a jovial geordie who was good at his job in providing the outside world with info about the club had to go then so be it.

League kicks off in a few weeks. You never know what you had until it's gone. What did he do off the field and behind the scenes that supporters never saw , that now has to be done by someone else! We will see on 6th Aug

Who are these non essential staff that are not needed
Ticket office manager, retail manager, hospitality manager, media manager, receptionist, safeguarding officer, receptionist.
Make them all redundant and run entirely on volunteers.. sounds like a money saving plan!

I have to say that I’m a bit surprised at the outpouring of support for MS when I never saw anything remotely like that when he was in the job, even to the point of him getting slated for some of his interviews and his questions to the manager after games. Personally I thought he did “ok” but equally some of the stuff put up was a bit….cringy.
Also, some people seem to have very odd agendas concerning people who have left or had their contracts terminated - for whatever reason. Behind the scenes a football club has to be run like a business and in any business people come and go.

What, in your opinion is the role of the media manager, and compare it with what MS did that was never seen?
