Re: Gills on Saturday
What gates do the likes of Fleetwood, Burton and Stevenage get? What gates did Accrington get (especially if you take away massive away followings) it’s do-able

Re: Gills on Saturday
You can't base it on gate's only ,it's about other revenue, ( in which we are miles behind) and also about having large sponsorship and hopefully directors/ owners who can help out financially we're doing OK , but moving forward we'll need much more !HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 2:18 pm What gates do the likes of Fleetwood, Burton and Stevenage get? Before you say it I'd love to go up but our fans are fickle a few defeats and gates would be affected ( unless we increase season ticket sales) and God forbid we have to increase prices! but all this is hyperthetical!

Indeed. Who knew there was a Christmas Fair at the stadium today and that the shop is open? There's nothing on the web site. I just happened to spot a Facebook post a couple of hours ago.blue nige wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 3:22 pmYou can't base it on gate's only ,it's about other revenue, ( in which we are miles behind)HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 2:18 pm What gates do the likes of Fleetwood, Burton and Stevenage get? Don't let the old man in.

to be fair it's all over the socials, that's how all clubs push out information, main websites are a secondary platformMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 1:48 pmI too am enjoying this journey immensely but If we do get promoted I think PW along with IW could leave. Reason being their stock would be high. A season of struggling in EFL 1 their stock would drop. Both are ambitious and on an upward trajectory career wise. Personally I don't believe that without a massive cash injection we are ready for EFL one and the current owners as brilliant as they have been wouldn't have sufficient funds for us to compete in the league above. The funding from promotion only rises by £500k where as players salaries double in many cases.mall wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 12:19 pm
Quite right, I too am enjoying the ride at the moment.
If we did go up, and you have to aim high I know, I don't think we could afford it. It's not really about transfer fees in League 1, it's about the doubling at least, of the wage bill. Decent gates at the moment in League 2 of course they are but, I think those gates would have to be nearly doubled just to survive in League 1 and I just don't think this area could offer that constant support.

If he gets us there, wouldn’t we be the league one club that he deserves.Mark Johnson wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 9:22 pm PW will be on the radar of many clubs already and of course the higher he finishes with Barrow, the more clubs will be interested especially if promoted. My question would be around how his contact is set up for this possibility. I wonder if there is a buy out clause and if so, I hope that is high. Or whether we would be negotiating with clubs on a price to let him go. If so, his value is going up and up.
I suspect a lot of clubs would be willing to throw their offers in for his services. Let's just hope Barrow get a good deal for it.
In terms of L1 - I think we need to go for it and be on this wave for as long as possible. If PW gets us there, he deserves a L1 / or even Championship club and we just have to hope the board make another great appointment.

What makes you think that wages would have to more than double?mall wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 12:19 pmQuite right, I too am enjoying the ride at the moment.Methuselah wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 9:03 pm
I think that if we do manage to get promoted at the end of the season, that will be the time to worry.P.W is on the crest of a wave at the moment and if he manages to achieve what seemed impossible a couple of season ago, that,s when the vultures will start to circle.P.W. will have achieved his aim ahead of schedule and if he was to.leave us for a much higher salary who could blame him.The club would obviously receive a decent amount of compensation with him having three years left on his contract. Also the players would obviously want higher salaries.Whether the club can afford it is another issue.I just hope if it does happen we aren't left in a similar position to when Ian Evatt left and we are given plenty of notice.I am just enjoying the ride at the moment.
Thoughts please

His next move will probably be a league one club with Championship potential. Even off we were to get promotion sadly that club wouldn't be us IMO.Bingley Blue wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 7:06 pmIf he gets us there, wouldn’t we be the league one club that he deserves.Mark Johnson wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2023 9:22 pm PW will be on the radar of many clubs already and of course the higher he finishes with Barrow, the more clubs will be interested especially if promoted. If we did get to League One (and it still feels like a dream rather than something that is a possibility at the moment) we'd be very much like Morecambe and Carlisle (if you believe their pre takeover budget craic that we hear about on RC) in that it'd be a massive battle just to be competitive. But that shouldn't stop us from having a good go, at a ridiculously absolute minimum we'd guarantee ourselves another two years of EFL funding to further structure ourselves off the pitch. Funding from which next season is increasing with the TV deal regardless of the league we are in.

Re: Gills on Saturday
Just look how well Stevenage have done this season, when they were relegation favourites at the start of last season (along with us). And I know Burton are having a poor season, but how do they survive on those crowds? About 2,500 yesterday.

Burton still have decent financial backing I believe.Bakewell Blue wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 11:21 pm Just look how well Stevenage have done this season, when they were relegation favourites at the start of last season (along with us). Some people talk that much garbage on here,it actually makes me laugh. PW would be gone, wages have to double, crowds need to double, what utter shite people talk.

Personally I think we'd have more chance of keeping Pete if we did go up to L1 than if we had a couple of seasons in and around the play-offs of L2

And there lies the problem, I emailed the club about an issue but never even got the courtesy of a reply.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 3:30 pmIndeed. Re: Gills on Saturday
Burton Albion, have been operating above league 2 for the past 8 years, two of those in the championship,on Saturday at home, they had an attendance of 2,400, that tells a story in itself, the story being , you don’t have to have the crowds of 17,000 like Bradford, you need a good structure and leadership in a club, and we have that.
