Think the point being made is just that they didn't have the magic 20 goal striker, but did have more than one person scoring a reasonable number of goals. Can argue it either way, I suppose!
Out top 5 scorers scored 35 Plymouths top 5 scored 50.
How many games did we come from behind to win
The point being made is the players we are bringing in are all unproven.
Be good to see if Gordon signs
Thanks for understanding the point I was trying to make
I'd even put the word 'proven' in italics

People on here amaze me.
They are quick to knock or rubbish any player we sign who has not scored 20 goals in a season.
All 24 clubs in league 2 would like that player but only 3 got one last season.
Then people are raving about Josh Gordon.
Ok he scored 15 goals from 37 appearances last season.
In his first season with Barrow he only scored 6 goals from 1 fewer game.
In his 3 seasons at Walsall he scored 7 from 37, 9 from 35 and 5 from 36.
Not prolific is it.
Getting a consistent goalscorer in league 2 is not easy.
Any club that does will find those players mostly moving up a division as every club in the EFL wants them.
Let's just hope we can find a gem from somewhere.
Josh Gordon excelled last season. However, hugely helped, in my opinion, by Ben Whitfield. I don't think many clubs will be in a race to sign Gordon. And I certainly don't think many will be raving about him due to his past goal scoring endeavours - noted by yourself - and by myself, in the past on here. If we've noticed his past record I'm sure EFL Managers will have! No great loss, if he leaves.
I'd like to see a 'proven' goal scorer signed. We're not going to sign Mullen from Wrexham or anyone else of his ability. We should be looking for an emerging talent from the leagues below. A young lad trying to make his mark. That's our best bet.
As for Garner. Record signing?

A young lad from the leagues below trying to make his mark might be a good find but wouldn't be a proven scorer at League 2 level.
By contrast, Josh Gordon's performances have proven his value to us, not just in terms of his goals tally. He would be a great loss.
As for Garner, let's see what comes after a pre-season with the Barrow squad as part of the manager's plans for the team.

Now you're talking, but I fear he'll be courted further up the food chain.

58 pages in and nobody has yet hit the jackpot by mentioning a name that we sign.

Already had clubs In Championship, League One and SPL showing interest
Very much a player to keep tabs on progress but to forget about being back in a Barrow shirt

The lack of ability to keep our better players is quite apparent.
Not necessarily a negative but I think it shows the value of developing them and selling them on whilst under contract rather than them running down a contract and go on a free .

As long as we get some equally as good in their place.
