Fair enough but I do feel you are defending the indefensible. Were you there when it happened? I wasn't so am not commenting much, but I have spoken to people on both sides and I know where I stand. You obviously feel the same but are being aggressive in pushing your point.

Get your point but maybe that should read "pretty much everyone on this forum". There are many that don't read what is on here and many that never directly heard what he said on the radio. This forum is often very vocal and I've read many calls for him to be sacked on here, I've not talked to anyone face to face that has said that.
I guess it depends who you talk to.

I'm absolutely staggered by DB's comments which are completely untrue. Will the board members in the meeting back-up those comments by Bayliss - it wouldn't surprise me if they did? Chris may have said the incident shouldn't have happened but no way did he withdraw the complaint because he was lying.

If it was lies why are there numerous other witnesses who will back up what Chris has said?
Has anyone from the club actually asked for other witnesses or their statements? No they haven't and I think we all know why.
Bayliss should have just kept his gob shut as this will do untold damage to the club.
"No they haven't and I think we all know why".
What are you saying, all the witnesses were drunk or what.
I was a witness, i was sober as i drove to gainsborough. I have seen chris's version of events and would back him 100%,
The chief witness to it all who missed most of it must have spoke on behalf of all those who were there.

Regardless of what happened on the day did Chris say to Bayliss on the following Tuesday night that he'd made up a lot of lies? Bayliss's words tonight on Radio Cumbria.

This is getting worse - did the BoD's know he was going on air to say this when they quite plainly know the ill feeling it's causing?

With this episode dragging on like some sick joke & the statement about the take-over being withdrawn, how the hell does the club move on now?
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Andy mate it seems we have some folk on here that cant quite understand logic and wrongdoing. I imagine you teach kids with higher IQ`s ?

Our fellow poster feels we are the same and we are the folk seeing the wrong in what DB has done as acceptable?

Its just mind boggling and i am back in Barrow this weekend. Mally, would you maybe like to meet myself and maybe the likes of Andy to discuss over a friendly pint?

Seriously it would be interesting to get opinions from you and not hide behind a keyboard.

Iam sure holkerbird will correct me if i am wrong but did you not go into the meeting with chris and bayles last tuesday to be a witness to the proceedings, you will know what was said to each other. i am sure i read it somewhere on this forum but my apologies if you did not, i hope chris comes on soon to put his version of events on again.

Chris is heartily sick and upset abuot it all, and is also really concerned not to drag others who were at that meeting into it. That's the type of person Chris is, which is why people are so angry.

Basically, the club, through Bayliss and John Mackay (who did not see the while incident- 'chief witness' indeed!) have spun a version of events that have made Chris look like the guilty party. There were 3 other people in the area who contradict the statements, one a serving member of the armed forces who was driving and was sober. None were asked by the club, For Bayles to come out on the radio and say Chris said he 'told lies' -is a lie. For John Mackay to say he was the chief witness is at worst a lie and at best, spin in the local media. Meechan's parroting of this last Wednesday in the EM was a disgrace also.

So, if we are asked to believe one ex and one serving soldier (one who was sober) and two others who were there, or a man who has previous for anger issues and offered the support out on the radio. His story backed up by a director who didn't see it all.

It's with a heavy heart I type this, the idea that we want this is so wrong, it's an excuse used by the powers that be at Barrow to befuddle the support and divide us.

It sounds to me like Chris just wanted this issue over and done with. I can understand that. He was the bigger man, and agreed to let it go, shake hands and move on.

To now be branded a 'liar' over the public media, on more than one occasion, is disgraceful.

The board really should do something about this, as it's really not on.

How far does Bayliss have to go before he's given his marching orders? His departure is long overdue.

As a follow up.

Chris had another phone call from Tony Keen last night and was subsequently phoned by Dave Bayliss this morning who apologised a lot, said he didn't mean for it to come out like it did and insisted he wasn't calling Chris a liar. I believe he offered to meet Chris again on Saturday but Chris who's just about had enough of it all and fed up of being taken for a mug declined this time.
