Fantastic result.

I would have been over the moon with two points out of Brackley & Telford so this must take a little pressure off the lads going into Saturdays game.

Sounds like all the back three had outstanding games, even RW.......which has surprised me & probably many more. The confidence in the team seems to be reaching the players we thought were dead wood & beyond hope for the first half of the season.

Far from out of the woods but what a difference a month has made.

Keep this going lads- fantastic performance and result. Listening to Edmo there and he's got this spot on with the players available tonight. knew exactly how they'd play so put three under the bar and took it to them on the counter. So good to hear the positivity. Well done with that bet.

Ian, it just goes to show how much better Edmo is at man management. Early days yet, but what a turn round, even the most optimistic among us must be surprised. :scarf: :scarf:

Brilliant result. Saw a far more energetic not to say skillful performance from the boys last week at Stalybridge. It's great to see them take this forward and beat a top four team like Bracknall shows what a bit of confidence can do. Mind you Bracknall owed us one this season they've edged us out of two games so a little bit of revenge is sweet. :)

Doh  Just getting a bit over excited. Does that mean we've collected six points tonight then ;)

When is somebody going to update the league table on the main forum, it's only about a dozen games behind.

Yeah, it felt pretty odd.

I think I'll stick to depressing realism in future :)

BARROW AFC earn superb victory at Brackley Town

Last updated at 21:45, Tuesday, 14 January 2014

A LATE Gareth Arnison header earned Barrow AFC a 2-1 victory at Conference North promotion contenders Brackley Town.

AFC were the better passing team in the first half and deserved to head into the break with a one-goal advantage.
And they made the better start although there were no chances of note created in the opening stages with Sam Sheridan's 30-yarder being blocked.
Brackley burst into life on a few occasions with Owen Story twice misfiring. But AFC took the lead in style with Colin Cowperthwaite – who was handed a full debut after recovering from a toe injury - collecting Sheridan's diagonal pass, beating a Brackley man with a superb touch before stabbing the ball beyond Saints keeper Billy Turley and into the net.
AFC continued to press forward with Turley doing well to repel Nick Rushton's close-range effort just after the half-hour mark.
AFC keeper Tony McMillan saved Story's shot and in the dying moments of the half Rushton's strike was blocked while Tom Corner's 42nd-minute header went wide on 42 minutes.
The Bluebirds endured they did not concede in the remaining few minutes of the half to ensure they went into the break leading the hosts.

But Brackley only needed four second-half minutes to equalise as Stefan Moore raced on to a Ben Mills through ball and slotted into the bottom corner.
Both sides wasted good chances to net a crucial second goal although Turley and McMillan delivered excellent saves. Turley managed to glance Sheridan's shot just wide while McMillan somehow clawed away Moore's header.
A topsy-turvy and entertaining second period also saw Moore blaze over. But Arnison made the difference with five minutes of normal tine remaining as he rose to glance his header home to add more fuel to their Conference North survival fight.

Defender Liam Willis made his full Barrow AFC debut.

Willis, 20, has joined the Bluebirds on a one-month loan deal from Southport, while fellow new loanee Phil Marsh – who started his career at Manchester United with his previous clubs including Stalybridge - was named among the substitutes. The 27-year-old Guiseley attacker also arrives on a month's loan.
Right-back Andy Burns and central midfielder Richard Davies miss out as they serve one-match bans. But Paddy Lacey returns from suspension to fill the void created by Davies's absence. Niall Cowperthwaite returns from a toe problem while left-back Paul Edwards was missing from the team sheet as he is suffering with a lower back problem. Centre-half Robbie Williams earns a recall to the starting line-up.

Brackley Town: Billy Turley, Izak Reid, Eddie Nisevic, Steve Towers, Tom Sharpe, Ryan Austin, Owen Story, Brett Solkhon, Stefan Moore, Ben Mills, Glenn Walker.

Substitutes: Neil Cartwright, Dave Bridges, Steve Diggin, Gary Mulligan, Eddie Odhiambo.

Barrow AFC: Tony McMillan, Niall Cowperthwaite, Duran Reynolds, Paddy Lacey, Danny O'Donnell, Robbie Williams, Ted Cribley, Sam Sheridan, Tom Corner, Nick Rushton, Liam Willis.

Substitutes: Gareth Arnison, Dan Parkinson, Phil Marsh, Alex-Ray Harvey, Alex Meechan.

Referee: Simon Barrow
