Regarding the sending off I don't think the officials seen much to be honest and a lot of guesswork ended in Paddy Lacey getting his marching orders. We could of caved in but we grew from then onwards as a team, countless fouling and acts of gamesmanship by Guiseley went unpunished by the man in the muddle, because that's what he was as bad as I've seen at least if he was consistent you could forgive. Anyway climbed a little further towards safety roll on Saturday. :scarf: :scarf:
Well put Mark. Fantastic effort and a pulsating game - Edmo must take an awful lot of credit for what we've seen tonight, there were several lads on show tonight I'd have been glad never to see in a Barrow shirt again, but to a man they were superb. I think the reaction by fans and players at the end showed what a massive result that was for them on a personal basis. Now we just need a sugar daddy to come in with some money and things will be just hunk dory...

Roll on Saturday!!

Great result tonight, it felt like a cup tie for large periods of the game - including the end when the majority of fans stayed behind to applaud a side who had ran themselves into the ground for a result they thoroughly deserved!! :scarf:

When we had 11 on the pitch Guiseley looked like a decent side but after we went down to 10 men they seemed to overplay and kept trying to find their extra man rather than just push on and take some shots. In the last 15 they panicked even more and just kept lumping it up to Boyes who looked a shadow of the player who left us and would certainly struggle to get in our side at the moment.

The ref was an incompetent fool who really struggled and by the end of the first half was of on the verge of loosing the game completely. The only thing he got right all night was the red card for Lacey but that was more luck than judgement (I think it was the liner who actually saw the shove in the face!). That said, their 11 should've seen red for the headbutt and perhaps if Lacey had made more of it instead of shoving him in the face the ref might of dealt with it all differently.

The only disappointing thing about tonight was the crowd.....where are all the fans who said they'd come back once Bayliss had gone?

Brilliant win, best of the lot IMO and great it was in front of the home crowd, such as it was.

Not just because of by all accounts from near the incident an utterly unjustified sending off. They were a well drilled bunch of hammer throwers with a bit of craft going forward and an amount of whining and cheating that would make even a Macclesfield defender blush. I think they may well make the play offs.

We were brave, superb after the sending off. The defence was immense (Reynolds a shoe in for player of the year if he keeps this up) but we didn't shut up shop and were a real threat all the way through. The tempo from our forwards, especially Rushton unsettled them throughout and the whole team put in a mighty shift. Edmo knows this level and it really shows. Brave and committed play, astutely managed- brilliant. The crowd played their part second half, great noise. A cracking night.

Couple of moans unrelated, not to hijack the thread though. Firstly, I hope the reports of some [SwearFilter] from Yorkshire hitting a kid at half time and then being let off with a warning isn't true, also apparently one or two of them did a great deal of mouthing off at people going in then, duly noted. The other is that I do not appreciate some kid with a camera on his phone filming me or anyone else in the support. People should be allowed to go to the football without that.

Cracking night though- All Bluebirds are Blue.

On this note, apparently a Barrow lad (kid is a huge over statement, Id guesstimate he was 17) was mouthing off at a Guiseley fan who then grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and pushed him away (fist and face may have made contact, but not a punch). The stewards waded in and decided to give them both a final warning, as opposed to kicking them both out

Great that Barrow held on for such a long time when they were down to ten men.

My boy said the Lad is fourteen going on fifteen responded to verbals off the Guiseley fan with some of his own!! No need for the bully boy take on things! If it was one of our fans assaulting a kid not only would he have been escorted from the ground but a ban would be the order of the day and police prosecution or am I just a cynic!!

That was great, just simply great. So proud of that performance. We look so much more solid with three centre halfs and the team has been transformed from a bunch of under-performers low on confidence to a team getting stronger every game. Unrecognisable from the performances at start of the season.

Barrow committed and hard-working again.

Guiseley simply inept. Boyes should fit in nicely.

So glad we won so I can say this without it sounding like sour grapes, far and away by a country mile and then some the worst referee I've seen this season, and possibly ever at HS. Literally did not have a clue. Sending off I can't really comment on because I didn't see it, but then I know for a fact the ref didn't for that exact reason, because I was looking at him at the time. Seems he fell for the Guiseley player's faking antics holding his face when he'd been shoved in the chest and spent most of the night just guessing whether to blow his whistle or not. Matey boy running the line down by the disabled area was just as bad, really not sure if he actually knows the offside rule or not.

Nasty, niggly team followed by a bunch of bellends too by all accounts, so roundly glad we won that one. Lovely stuff!

Fantastic result, could have well been more. A couple of goal mouth scrambles with multiple chances to put it away for a second goal. Reynolds screamer of a free kick yet again forcing a keeper to palm it away, this time over the bar. Reynolds will surely score one of them if he keeps at it. Rushton was pulled back when clean through but not even a free kick given, then pushed over in the box in the 2nd and no penalty given. I think the 2nd penalty shout when he was tripped would have been harsh on them, he went down too easy for me. Rushton ran his socks off and could well have had a hat trick. He took his goal really well rounding the keeper to score on the right going wide of goal, but Reynolds was outstanding and took MoTM for me, but you could have picked anyone tonight as they all put a real shift in.

Guiseley looked average tonight, not a patch on Alty. They had chances notably ex-bluebird Boyes putting it in the net from an offside position and a clear distance shot sliced well wide in the 1st. They spent a lot of time the 2nd just giving giving us the ball and our forward line just ran into the open spaces they were leaving. They managed to force McMillan into a handful of good saves. Including a rather bizarre one, where he went down early and they should have scored but the forward was off balance and practically placed it into McMillan's lap while he sat on the floor.

I agree with the comments about the officials tonight. Don't think either team will be happy with them, both linesman failed to spot numerous offsides and flagged a few that were not. Gave a few throw-ins the wrong way for both sides, etc, etc. Rarely did they get involved in helping the man in the middle out except to send Lacey off. I thought someone was going to get seriously injured as he just let the game run on regardless of the tackling.

Nice touch at the end, with the standing (most were already stood ;) ) ovation when Edmo huddled them together gave a few words then headed off to the changing rooms leaving them to soak up the we deserved adulation and applaud the support. Top of the form table with 15 points from 5 games 9 goals scored, 2 conceded. 8 points from drop zone, over double the points of bottom side Workington, and not so long ago we were bottom. Well done lads. :D

A victory of epic proportion that against a decent side and an inept/inexperienced referee who bought everything then explained every decision to the players who sussed him from the start. The team spirit required to pull that off with a man down was truly outstanding – Manager of the Month for Edmourinho shirley?

Another win, a victory huddle, a standing ovation at the end and a packet of chocolates from a Barrow AFC Director when you go into the ground – what more can people possibly want?

Respectfully, Barrow Ab, I would have to disagree with you there! Don't get me wrong, I agree that Reynolds has been a revelation in our recent revival and justifiably deserves all the praise in the world. The way things are at present we could have a seemingly impossible job choosing a Player of the Season because if we carry on as we are there would be 13 or 14 valid candidates!

However, my choice is already made, barring a disatrous downturn in form, or a display of behaviour that brings discredit to the club. That man is Burns. The reason being because I don't forget in a hurry just how bad we were in those first few months of the season and who was the one man who was clearly giving it 100% each and every match - - - and playing quite well into the bargain. I realise there might be valid excuse for some of the others who perhaps froze, or whose energy and confidence was sapped, and this made it seem like they weren't trying very hard. But even if that were true it only adds to the credit for Burns who showed the fortitude and character to bring that energy and commitment out during the very worst of times.

I agree re Burns, thought last night he did a tremendous job because at times he was faced with 2 Guisley players as they attacked down the left hand side and he dealt with it ....also got to agree there are at present a lot of players for POS....long may it continue :scarf:
