He tore them to shreds, even when they doubled up on him they couldn't stop him. Real shame Pilks is injured, we would have opened them up a lot more. That game was crying out for the goal scoring super-sub Wilson, sadly another on the injury list.
They doubled up in defence every time, our defence went one-on-one and when they got past the fullbacks there was nothing to stop them. Despite them doubling up we still created enough chances, just lacked the finish, some of their finishing was woeful and did not match their pacey attack. According to an interview with the Fylde manager, we had 10 corners yesterday, I recall we had 3 right at the end when we piled the pressure on. Didn't think we really threatened as much as we have done in the past at corners. Bit of an off day.
Again their manager claiming the crowd had no effect on the Fylde players, but said it played it's part for Barrow.
BTW Guiseley v Fylde on Sunday has already been called off.
A lot of rain recently so everything is wet and with freezing temperatures expected over night and tomorrow morning, hope that we don't get a frozen pitch. The day time temperatures are not expected to get much above freezing.

said last year that we should have signed the Colwyn Bay right back , Taylor he signed for Chester but is back at the Bay due to broken promises. Meech knows him well and tried to get him when Bayliss was in charge but Bayliss dragged his feet and in this close season Chester signed him. Great on the ball , good going forward and an excellent defender ideal for if we progress into the conference. Burns is not the player he is portrayed to be on here and his weaknesses were very much exposed yesterday and not for the first time.

Looking at this and your previous posts you seem to know Meeks rather well!

Having viewed the set up at Fylde and been pondering on their situation, I couldn't help but draw paralells with the Colne Dynamoes experiment of the 80s. Local businessman likes his football, has a bit of cash to splash and approaches his local football league club with a view to becoming a member of the board. In the case of Colne Dynamoes the club approached was Burnley, and in the case of Fylde it was Blackpool; however the potential investor doesn't get things his own way, takes off in a huff and starts his own campaign to be a football league club owner/director.
Quite a lot of us would remember that Colne ultimately didn't do much and the owner (in another huff) pulled the plug after Barrow knocked them out of the FA Trophy and their ground was thought not up to scratch for Conference football; albeit there was a new stadium on the drawing boards. The thing is however, Colne did attract gates of around 1000 as I recall whereas Fylde have about 300 on a good day; I've no axe to grind here and I like to see all clubs from the NW area doing well, but I can't help but think that history will be repeating itself.

Re Wintergreen's comments, it did cross my mind too that gates of 300-400 weren't really a sustainable model for Conference Premier and beyond, especially when you have competition from 3 football league clubs within a few miles radius.

It was also reported at the time that the owner's family were receiving a lot of abuse from so-called supporters and he decided that enough was enough.

When you place your self in the public's eye you should not be surprised to get high praise & dogs abuse in equal measure, sadly a reflection on society, look at the Royals, Sport, Music or Movie stars, its a love/hate relationship for the masses, many of you love & many of them hate.
Football owners suffer the same fate, I am sure at some point Mr Casson will come under heavy and sustained fire from a large section of our support, its inevitable, the question is how thick is his skin.

What's not strictly true, the fact that I've been thinking about Fylde, comparing them to Colne and wondering if they will end up the same way?
I can assure you that it is true and I will take any lie-o-graph test on the pitch at half time v Fylde to exonerate myself.

Wintergreen - Have no doubt that the Fylde "project" is not ultimately sustainable and that at some point it will in all probability go pop.
However, you shouldn't underestimate the desire and buying power of Dave Haythornthwaite. He will build his 6000 seater stadium just off the M55 and will surround it with a shopping mall and cinema complex. The guy at Colne didn't have the wherewithall or the ackers to do this. With Haythornthwaite he turned his attention to Fylde after his overtures to Blackpool were rejected by the Oystons.
The issue will be whether this brings in a new generation of fan so that Fylde can sustain gates in excess of 1000. If not then the ground will be a mausoleum. As there really is no unattached local population to attract the only way this will be achieved is if the crowd is "stolen" from elsewhere. Doubt it will be from Preston and although Blackpool are in disarray, Fleetwood are always there to pick up any strays.
The achilles heel for Fylde will be the crowd. I just dont see the club becoming embedded in a community in which it can be sustained. Gateshead suffers from a similar problem - although it does have a community capable of sustaining it.
But I've no doubt that in every other aspect however, Fylde has what it takes to be a Football League club. I dont think they'll hit the wall anytime soon so as long as they can negotiate a ground share for at least half of next season with Fleetwood they wont find the Conference Prem a barrier.
If Fleetwood/Blackpool however were not to say yes then we might see a lot of rule bending going on to accommodate them as I think they are the sort of team the the Conference like to think off (foolishly so) as the future. However I'd also watch the Blackpool situation because if an opportunity arose that would allow DH to jump ship I'd be surprised if his ego would let him ignore it - especially if Fylde performances plateau out at some point.
