Thought as a combative unit we were very good today Bennett stood out but others played their part, Tuton and Turnbull also stood out along with Meikle.
But good defences usually win more than they loose and the back four as a unit shone with Moussa rightly chosen as MoM. Hardly put a foot wrong, but neither did Danny Livesey or Shaun Beeley. NWA put in a shift also.

Resting the midfield may prove dividends on Tuesday, because after a good win we are usually exposed next game in that area more often than not.

Really enjoyed the game.
D&R were pretty handy, playing some good football, and refreshingly not niggly or dishonest when it didn't go their way.
We are so much better when teams try to play against us, rather than if they sit back (e.g. Southport, Torquay, Sutton). Not sure how effective our plan B against ultra defensive footy is.
When there is more space we seem to use the ball much better, and defensively the closing down recently is first rate - winning balls with real determination and getting on the attack immediately.
Today the possession gathered from broken play was made to work effectively, as it was recently against Tranmere and Lincoln.
We are good at stopping other teams attacking, and then taking advantage by getting the ball forward into dangerous positions quickly.
Quite a few chances today as a result, and once again, over and above everything, the commitment and determination throughout the side is nothing other than a credit to them.

On the game... Today we took advantage on the break as we did against Tranmere and Lincoln, but we don't play that way against sides further down the table and we have struggled since the turn of the year and especially since we lost Harrison. We need a real effort against Wrexham on Tuesday to banish the yoyo performances of being good then bad.

On other things...

When has he said that? We may already have that 2000 it's not the same 1100 every game

I think when he took over Charlie, but don't quote me.

He may have said something like that back then, but he said something as similar about the Rochdale game. He has always said he wanted more through the gate but has also said that the number coming though the gate at the moment (some time within the last year) is not that important compared to building up the club, and putting a winning team on the field to help bring in more people. He has also realised and said, that talking too much to the media about his thoughts produces quotes that people hang on to, quotes that can not be realised. As a result he doesn't seem to talk to the media as much these days.

I think he is being more realistic about what we might get through the gate. When we played Rochdale in the FA cup he said

We will have around 2,500 additional people showing up for the first time in a long time. It would be good if we could get even 20 per cent of them coming back – we’d end up with 2,000 at games rather than 1,500.

It's more a hopeful statement rather than the demanding attitude we got from the car crash chairman SV. Since the cup game our gates have tailed off a bit and I've not check figures but we always do seem to tail off on the gates when it looks like we are out of the picture. Even promotion seasons seem a bit flat until the final few games where we look likely to succeed, so nothing different from previous seasons.

I think a new stadium would be the way forward IMO, but with new floodlights being installed at HS Ithink that's a non starter.

If we were to get a new ground it certainly would not be by the time we kick off next season and we would likely not be allowed to start next season if we don't do something about the flood lights. Like a car, regardless of the cost, you have to keep changing the oil, filters and tyres to keep it going if you intend to use it before you sell it. I've posted this before but... Mr Casson's son did say on BBC RC that our current ground is good enough for the crowds we are likely to get for the foreseeable future, so no possible move any time soon. Any move would be a long term goal if needed.

Would have been good if the club did a 4 game ticket deal for last 4 homes games. Does anyone how the last deal went?

Watched the game highlights and some thoughts as follows:

- May have been a little harsh on Flatt for the first goal. The delivery was inch perfect into the top right hand corner, not even sure someone on the back post would have stopped that.

- Penalty was a little lame, but will take it. Think their keeper may have got a slight touch, but luckily the shot was hard enough to go in.

- Goal from Diarra was taken well. Could quite easily have been skyed over the bar.

- Lovely move around 4:30 with a lay off that deserved a goal.

Overall - a really good performance - let's hope we can repeat it on Tuesday.

Unsure about that. I don't think keepers should get beat direct from corners, however JF more than made up for that mistake with a very good reaction save near the end of the game.

Penalty was a little lame, but will take it. Think their keeper may have got a slight touch, but luckily the shot was hard enough to go in.

Definitely a soft penalty, think we'd be fuming if that had been given against us. After that penalty award yesterday and the goal against Tranmere, which we were lucky with after Moussa clattered their keeper, perhaps we're getting a little bit of good luck when we need it.
We were pretty close to the goals and their keeper got a decent touch to the ball (you could actually hear it) that would have not gone had the shot had been much softer.

Goal from Diarra was taken well. Could quite easily have been skyed over the bar.

Totally agree, a well taken goal, especially from that angle.

We were asked on the coach after if we wanted to make an official complaint to the police for inciting reasons. Given it would have probably meant another 14 hour round trip we all declined. '

He sort of passed it into the far top corner, showing a lot of control and composure in the process. If he had lashed at it, the ball would doubtless have sailed high and wide into the stratosphere, either up there high above us or over there in Vegas (take your pick). Fortunately Moussa's cool kept it down and won the match for us.

My immediate thought when I saw it yesterday was Moussa's another Marco Van Basten (so reminiscent was his strike of the Dutchman's famed effort many moons ago from a very acute angle into the top corner on the far side). Well, okay, just a little bit . . . okay, just a teenie weenie little bit . . .

How many others got booked after the final whistle apart from Tuton? Harry P got stuck in when Tuton got surrounded by their team. Their manager seemed to cause a fair bit of bother at the start of it all.

A Daggers fan I was talking to after the match also pointed the finger at Tuton for goading the away fans from in front of their bench.

Disappointing if so, given that it had been such a good game, played in a good spirit with none of the bully boy tactics and intimidation of the referee from Dagenham that we have seen from other 'top teams'.

Good, all-round team performance from Barrow. A bit more consistency in the remaining games and we could be thereabouts. If not, there's the basis of a very good squad for next season.
