Happy to share a shop in town, but not a ground. As I say, people choke on the big question?
The benefits it would bring in terms of regeneration, reaching new fans, catalyst for growth, jobs, new vibrancy, if built alongside new bars, facilities etc. Collaboration with new businesses, partnerships. Etc.
BARROW V Wrexham match thread

But would you ever get the balance right long term, especially board wise. I feel it might work for a while and to a degree of sucess, but ultimately one will end up suffocating the other!Jonty wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 3:29 pm Happy to share a shop in town, but not a ground. The way to do it would be to look at teams who have managed it well, avoid the ones that don’t do it well. I understand some would vehemently oppose, no matter what benefits it would bring to the wider community.McMark wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 3:47 pmBut would you ever get the balance right long term, especially board wise. We’ve just played this fixture in front of an alarmingly low crowd. Probably the lowest for a Barrow v Wrexham. The club is not attracting new fans and that won’t happen at Holker Street the way it is. Football as sustainable business that cannot function outside the top two / three divisions on match day income alone. We are in that boat. We need a modern all year round facility. The rugby is in the same situation so surely it makes sense to look into ground share at one of the two grounds or a new ground entirely. Workington have recognised this is needed for their two clubs to progress and have a vision and a public consultation on it soon.

Not opposed to the idea! Would love an improved ground with new facilities that would be a real asset to the town. But and it's a big but could the mindsets of the people that ultimately matter be changed.
Expressed my long term concerns regarding one entity ultimately stifling the other, but what are the concerns of others.

I respect your opinion. But it's a series of soundbites. Who's paying for it?Jonty wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 3:29 pm Happy to share a shop in town, but not a ground. As I say, people choke on the big question?

Just watched Wrexham in FA Cup.
No Sam Ricketts who had been asked to not attend due to his imminent move to Shrewsbury.
They now have a replay. About to lose their manager the same as last season.
Looking like they will be with us for a bit longer yet....

That would have to be understood, so let’s have the debate with the clubs, the fans and the people of the town. A new groundshare as part of a wider Barrow regeneration scheme is how it would come to fruition. So when the next master plan for the town comes around, I would hope that includes a new community stadium.barrowaberdeen wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 9:02 pmI respect your opinion.
