Agreed. Last season's promotion was a perfect storm unlikely to be seen again. Which is why it's so important we stay up as I don't think we'd ever get back.blue nige wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 10:00 amnot many ! there's some sleeping giants in the national league with big backers, better stadiums, infrastructure, and of course where we are geographically which again is another obstacle that's without paying off the present players (unless they have leave options in their contracts)
This is why it would be an absolute disaster if we go down !

I think that is a way over the top a reaction-. I am sure the board would do everything in their power to get us back up immediately.
We must stay positive.

Re: Safe
In the 7 games so far against the teams around us - Grimsby, Southend, Scun-thorpe, Colchester - we have amassed 5 points. 5 points from a potential 21; 1 point less than in our 2 games against the league leaders.
Southend just have to win their last 2 games which leaves us needing a point at either FGR or Exeter. That thought kept me awake for at least 2 hours last night.

Re: Safe
Realistic IMO.
I'm sure the board absolutely would however they've failed miserably trying to find even an average football manager nevermind one to achieve another against all odds promotion.

Re: Safe
Just a case of being very lucky in that we hired an unknown manager who turned out to be very good. Unfortunately, the chances of getting another as good as Evatt are very remote and the chances of getting one who will insist on playing the type of football he advocates is almost impossible. Last season watching Barrow play was a joy. This season it has been a painful experience.Steeley wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 10:07 amAgreed. Re: Safe
We could well go down this season, or we could spend 5 years in the EFL before getting relegated again. However, it is of the upmost importance that we stay here for as long as we can (permanently would be nice) as we desperately need time to get the some infrastructure in place which would better prepare us for the peaks and troughs that is football.
Popular side since '03.

Re: Safe
Our fate WILL not be decided next Saturday if we lose the next two it will be decided at Exeter
Nothing is certain a point on Tuesday night and grimsby failing to win and we are fine.
My worry is we have lost this last three although we have played teams with something to play for and port vale who are in great form.. our last 3 are against teams with something to play for also just need to get a point or a win

Re: Safe
Yes.....I know. I thought I could leave that unsaid having mentioned that we had played 7 of our 8 games against the 4 teams around us and how abysmally we had performed against them. Ergo we could well lose that one on this season's form and, therefore, we need a point from our 2 tricky away games.
