I know a lot of trains get cancelled, whether it's because of leaves on the line or drivers not bothering to turn up or whatever.
Holkerbird might well be singing "please, please, please, for once in my life let me get what I want . . . don't cancel this one . . ."

but I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt---just the total destruction of the drum.

Really? Don't be too sure. Given average delays on train departure times the 15.05 could well be mowing down the line-drummers sometime during the night match.
