If we win at Wembley and go up I couldn’t care less if we lost every game next season. What a day it would be

Been there done that in 1990 and 2010.Big_Bluebird wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 8:09 pm If we win at Wembley and go up I couldn’t care less if we lost every game next season. What a day it would be

Yeah exactly, as in 1990 and 2010, gives the whole town a huge boost, arguable winning the play offs to get to league one (potentially sheff Wednesday in the league etc) is bigger than the fa trophy. No point counting the chickens yet though, everything can soon change in a heartbeat.Big_Bluebird wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 8:09 pm If we win at Wembley and go up I couldn’t care less if we lost every game next season. And the final play-off date is 19th May - exactly as it was in 1990. 3-0 anyone?

Yes, it was said that work was proposed to be done in this and the following pre-season breaks to address drainage issues.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 1:28 pmIIRC it was mentioned at the recent Q&A that a meeting was to be held the following morning with a pitch expert and the groundstaffbehind the goals wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 1:14 pm
But the pitch isn`t god knows how much needs spending on it close season, some very serious money will need spending on it.
to discuss what was needed to be done in the close season with the timescales available.

Re: Where Will We Finish ?
After tonight’s games 75pts is the golden figure to guarantee the play offs:
Stockport are 1pt away from securing promotion
Wrexham will be all but promoted at the weekend if they win and MK fail to beat Mansfield - they would be mathematically promoted if we fail to beat Gillingham in that scenario (if we win then they wouldn’t be mathematically promoted but would need just 1pt to make that happen)

Re: Where Will We Finish ?
This prediction is probably where we will end up unless there is a sudden turnaround in the teams performance.
Although it will be a fantastic position to end up in,if we do not make the playoffs I think we will have to look on it as an opportunity missed as we seem to come up short at critical moments.
Pete Wild and his team have put together a fantastic team on a fairly small budget compared to the big boys in this league.
I can see next season being even harder in div 2 as you will have clubs with free spending chairman who somehow know how to bend the fair play rules,ie Stockport and Wrexham who.seemed to have found a way of hiding the mount of money that has been put into their respective clubs by saying the money is for infrastructure.
I always thought that expenditure was supposed
to equal income generated but these clubs with their smart accountants seem to always find away around it.
This is why even if we do manage to eventually win promotion we as a club will struggle.i think our future lies in maybe hovering in the upper end of div 2 and getting the odd FA cup draw when we play a Premier League team giving a good day out for the supporters and generating income for the club.I just hope this team proves me wrong and we do eventually win promotion and manage to hold our own in Div 1.

I think at the end of the day its all about what the club gets through the gates. Since we returned to the FL the attendances have been better than I thought they would be but, for a club thats been consistently up there this season I think we ought to have been pushing the four thousand mark regularly.

Re: Where Will We Finish ?
The chairman says we have a play off budget so if we don't make the play offs it's going to be very disappointing
Sadly whilst the manager pushes the we need to know who we are and look where we are compared to 10 years ago narrative we won't win anything.
If Paul Cox had been managing this bunch of players we would have won the league.. its all about mentality

That's my only negative of PW.. he does seem to have that little negative streak in himBingo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 9:23 am The chairman says we have a play off budget so if we don't make the play offs it's going to be very disappointing

Hopefully this season he can prove beyond doubt he has the bottle and even if that means a good stint in playoffs.

I wouldn’t call it a negative streak I’d call it keeping it realistic. We are 18th in the average attendance table so hardly bringing enough money through the turnstiles to justify our lofty league position.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 9:54 amThat's my only negative of PW.. he does seem to have that little negative streak in himBingo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 9:23 am The chairman says we have a play off budget so if we don't make the play offs it's going to be very disappointing

I’m not knocking our attendances they are great compared to our national league days.
Re: Where Will We Finish ?
I don't think for a moment that PW has a negative attitude; his is one of the most positive and ambitious that you would wish to encounter. (Ian Evatt, of course, was another such example.)
Putting the last two season's achievements into context in the face of a small number of individuals going the full Private Fraser on social media each time a couple of games are lost is not being negative, it is being realistic.
Meanwhile, even now, in the darker corners of social numptydum, there will doubtless be suggestions that the manager is under instructions to ensure that we are not promoted...

Re: Where Will We Finish ?
A quick vox pox down the Shoulder of Mutton on Saturday (Post Swindon) found none of the assembled pundits actually fancied going up with the obvious financial demands that would be put on the club. It would be a tough gig alright but the BoDs are no mugs and they are used to managing change at Holker Street. Some amazing things have happened in the last five years at Barrow and just maybe it is time for another?
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...
