He was on the board wasn't he? Perhaps they had a veto policy in place.olefogey wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 8:50 pmHow could Wood, or anyone else for that matter, possibly block anything the board wanted?bluessupporter wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 6:21 pm Probably someone that the Board wanted but Wood blocked. Significant that Wood was sacked very quickly.

Sorry - bad choice of words. Should have said 'advised against' and as DOF perhaps his words were persuasive.olefogey wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 8:50 pmHow could Wood, or anyone else for that matter, possibly block anything the board wanted?bluessupporter wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 6:21 pm Probably someone that the Board wanted but Wood blocked. Yes. It will. As ever people are talking about it like we can attract people with a track record, we only would if they were desperate for a role.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 9:05 pmWill it?Wintergreen wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 8:07 pm The new appointment will logically be someone who is desperate for a job. Any job.

Re: New Appointment
Looking at the situation logically, we are not an attractive proposition for any manager looking for long term employment with time to formulate and execute their plan. We have a long established hire-em-fire-em policy and in that respect the club is flawed. Any new manager will be well aware of this so he would need to be someone who is used to moving around a lot, probably be rather flawed himself but essentially be a decent guy at heart, an experienced manager and possibly out of work at the moment.
So perhaps we could come together for the common good, forgive and forget, recognise each others flaws, manage them and start afresh.

Yes, the Club's reputation now precedes it.
Re: New Appointment
But does it though, people quickly move on in football it’s the nature of the beast.
if there’s a wage to be had and something to prove there will always be takers. Pretty sure there will be a vision from both sides and ambitions too, I’m sure there won’t be a shortage of applicants. We just have to hope as many of the boxes will have been ticked as possible in getting to a conclusion.
Re: New Appointment
I think the Board have been naive and trusted in a former agent who they thought would be good at the job .olefogey wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 8:50 pmHow could Wood, or anyone else for that matter, possibly block anything the board wanted?bluessupporter wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 6:21 pm Probably someone that the Board wanted but Wood blocked. Well the world is full of people talking a good job and we have seen how good Wood was.
He would not be able to block them but would certainly influence them as a expert
When the great leader was in charge before he headed off back to the USA we had a Manager that was also doing some agency work and fantasy economics while Managing us.
He left under a cloud and went to another club and used 40 players in less than a season .
Turns out he was also acting as a agent!!!
Football is like swimming in the Ocean with sharks!

I think swimming in the Ocean is a far safer proposition Pedro.Pedro wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2026 10:23 amI think the Board have been naive and trusted in a former agent who they thought would be good at the job .

Do you not think that Wood was behind this merry-go-round which contributed to us losing our EFL status?Wintergreen wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2026 9:17 am Looking at the situation logically, we are not an attractive proposition for any manager looking for long term employment with time to formulate and execute their plan. Indeed IMO it could be that once that was confirmed the rest of the Board realised that they may have had been badly advised by one of their own members, and he had to go quickly.
As you say what's done is done and we have to make a fresh start. Just hope we get a hungry young manager perhaps from lower down the leagues looking to make a name for himself and we can convince him that he will be given a chance to get this squad playing together for the good of the club and the town, without being quickly sacked.
Better than another ex-FL has-been looking for an easy pay cheque!

Seems like an awfully big 'perhaps' that someone could veto the owners! Maybe Bluesupporters subsequent correction is closer to the truth, but the reality is that none of us actually know.Bigfathoss wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 9:07 pmHe was on the board wasn't he?
