If they null and void it, there is no precedent set to stop the same shit-shower if another pandemic breaks out in the seasons that follow. This Coronavirus pandemic has shown a few rougue nations what damage can be inflicted on others without the need for expensive nuclear weapons. A frightening thought but our new reality I’m sorry to say.
The NL has already closed its season WG. It very probably wont play another game. Its statement out of the meeting is also pretty confused.

In short however, the EFL will probably make the decision as to how many teams it needs and the NL will then produce an outcome that facilitates this. So the status of each of these options has effectively changed to being more tactical. Voiding is still on the table but probably only becomes likely if the EFL voids.

Bear in mind also that relegation remains on the table within the EFL. It therefore probably has to remain on the table in the NL. So the likes of Chorley, Ebbsfleet and Fylde may be sitting a little less comfortably than they were this time yesterday.

And so we come to post 901 in this thread. Will it reach 1000?

Well like everything else so far that is out of our hands and will be a decision made by others!

To be fair to the National League they've been smart here they've consulted with the club's and then passed it over to the EFL (which was always going to happen) now
It's out of their hands .
I might have read it wrong but at least 1 team is going to be promoted to the EFL and if we can't proceed with playoffs that leaves.................?

Think the only guarantee from today’s meeting is that we still won’t find out for definite either way next week

……...another week for pointless speculation that I probably will be guilty of making worse.

But yes, Nige, I agree. That (non) decision could only come from an NL that is convinced it will have to "promote" at least 1 team and does not believe that voiding and then letting the EFL pinch any of its members would be a very good thing. I think for the first time PPG may have nosed ahead in the most likely outcome stakes. Especially since it can also be used to enable a play-off scenario were it to be at all feasible.

As noted previously, it does open up the relegation/promotion issue between the NL and the NLN/NLS, but it would appear that for the first time the NL have accepted that the promotion to EFL issue will drive everything else. Dare I say it but these are not bad things as far as BAFC are concerned.

No decision
Don't want to come across as a smarty pants, but I've been saying this for some time. NL won't make final decision until EFL make a decision, who are waiting for PL, who are waiting for EUFA etc etc.

The only way Barrow arent up now is if an odd number of FL clubs were to go bust before the AGM and they voted to run with fewer clubs. As far as Barrow are concerned it doesn't even really matter now whether the FL complete or not [ which they cant now given the timescales they mentioned today ]

Even if the NL were to go with Null and Void the FL would still need a club and you can't really see the FL board looking anywhere else unless a bunch of scumbags in the East Midlands were to maybe come up with a very large brown envelope.

Only half the citizens of that particular place in the East Midlands are scumbags. The others who live down the road are quite reasonable. Funnily enough the ones that live down the road also think that the other half are scumbags too.

As a brief aside from the main arguments it is interesting to visit the forums of our two main rivals. As expected the County forum is full of vitriol basically supporting their god-given right to an EFL place. Reasons vary between 'we were the form team and Barrow would have bottled it' through ' Barrow would only be promoted on sentiment as they have done nothing for 48years' to the bizarre'If the season was voided our relegation shouldn't count as we can't be relegated to a season that doesn't exist'. Contrast this with Harrogate where the situation doesn't seem to exist outside the boardroom. Their forum has THREE posts since January with just FOUR replies. Subjects are ground improvements, the FCA's (?) and someone looking for an old programme.Appreciate there may be poor broadband in the village and the inability to gather for banter in Bettys' Tea Rooms but surely this shows the level of interest and the chairman is surely flogging a dead horse.

Harrogate's forum is facebook based now i believe - but even that gets minimal posts (you can see how many without registering and most days the number is less than 5 or 6 posts....)
Notts has 2;- Pride of Nottingham - which is more sparsely used but fairly sensible and you can have a good discussion and the more used Notts County Mad (NCM) which i think you're referring to which has a mix of entitled idiots and some sensible posters - i'm active on both at present and have had good discussions with a few and not got any sense out of the entitled ones (as expected)...
Lancashire;- born and bred
