If that is true(and il have a listen)then that is so wrong as it is up to the manager to get the team firing .which in return will see a rise in attendances.Already fuming at Radio Cumbria headlines regarding Brian Keen statement.Going to be an interesting and very controversial news item.

Not sure we've got any contracted players that are actually worth anything have we?

Don't think the funds from his sale will keep us going very long - here's hoping that BBCRC are making waves and it's all utter rubbish.

Just heard the Chairman on RC talking about apathy in the town despite the ‘massive’ clubs who come to Barrow in our league – fair comment, but no surprises. They then played interviews from a few townsfolk who ‘don’t like football’ and one who seems to be expecting Barcelona for the £14 admission and ‘won’t be going up there again’.

The main difference between this season and last is that the BoD have failed to promote the club as well as they have done in previous years and this is a key factor on the current low gates. TK was mis-quoted but it seems to have stuck, that we would be better off in BSN, a misquote which seemed to resonate round the town and is starting to look like an achievable objective. I think it’s common knowledge that the Commercial Manager had to leave due to salary-based cash flow problems – but not to replace him in any way was a massive mistake....or was it?

The more worrying thing for me from that interview was from where I was listening it sounded like Brian keen was saying he'd have to go not any mention of players having to go

problem is you can get to see barcelona for around £15 in some games.
I payed 17 for a bundsliga game 2 weeks ago.

I never picked that up from BK Adam; as for selling our best players...they are players no one else wants, with one or two notable exceptions.

It's towards the end where it sounds like to me he says "if things dont improve then I'll have to move, we are a business at the end and the football is just a small part"

End of the day, this is the time the town needs to stand up and be counted.
So happy to follow us in the good days at Sunderland, Middlesbrough and wembley but when the club really needs them like now they don't care. Makes me really sad

At last week's meeting we were told that a new guy was starting this week, purely on commission, to sell sponsorship packages and advertising etc.

It is understandable to lose some supporters when results are not going well but we started off from a low point this season crowd wise. The BOD did nothing in the summer to promote the new season so the BOD need to take some blame.

Do they think that clubs like FC United (for example) just open the gates and expect people to turn up, no they work at it - come up with ideas, have promotions and put posters up all over Manchester. They work hard to get the fans in and then try and keep them.

There is so much bad feeling around at the moment - I feel if nothing changes nothing will change so we need a big push, maybe some kind of promotion, a rallying of the troops -

I think he meant that as Chairman and head of the business he would have to make a move to cut the budget. Sound economic sense really.

Our best players leave anyway even if we're getting good attendances.

I never realized the gulf between the BOD and the fans was so vast.Very disappointed with the chairman.Veiled threats of selling players in order to get fans in.First of all he asks us for "Help?".=No promotion of this ive heard...."Volunteers?"=How many times have people asked?= No promotion. "season ticket sales down".=No promotion."Attendances down."=No promotion."We are a business" he says.Of course we accept that. But the business shut down lock stock and barrel over pre season it appears.No information whatsoever.=No promotion.We where all disappointed with 1st game attendance.But that was surely down to apathy and negativity created by the silence from the business over the summer months.I feel this statement from the chairman hides a few truths of where they as a business want us to be.No talk of the manager and why the team are misfiring. three signings out injured.That doesn't effect tactics on the day. All too cosy at Barrow AFC .A very badly scripted statement from the chairman which does nothing for the team or the fans.

If the board want the gates to improve then they need to make an effort to advistise the games and not expect the fans to do their work for them.

But as a members club isnt it encumbent upon us all to promote the club and help to improve things not just the BOD?

Yes the BOD have made this very difficult in the past but are slowly opening things up and opportunities are being made available. Even so there is no reason why people cant do things for themselves to help out, like Adam's scorecast, Dave C's posters advertising games, Spiritof1990 getting the gates done, vast numbers of members of this forum chipping in for the shorts sponsorship draw etc etc.

The BOD cannot do everything, this is something even they are starting to realise, everybody who supports and cares about this club should be taking some responsibilty for helping it to continue to exist, be that attending games, encouraging others to come along, buying a programme, merchandise, anything at all they can manage through location, finances or desire to help out.

Those that just want to turn up and watch the football, thats fine too, but these people IN MY PERSONAL OPINION are the ones that want everything on a plate but dont want to put the effort in to help achieve it, and the ones I have the least time for when it comes to listening to their arguements.
