Terrible Ref

The referee was shit (or biast) worst referee I hav ever seen at a barrow match Im not sure it was a red card but when it was going to be 3-2 I was sure he made up the handball that denied us the goal.
What amazed me tho was that we wer the better team and we would surely of got the third if the ref let the second one count. Good game by the barrow players but the ref just chose who would win wouldn't be surprised if he was from Cambridge.

Clear handball before we hit net for second time ,probably the only correct decision he made
Could possibly have given another red card and penalty for the 3rd Cambridge goal for handball on the line again
Spoilt the game with the ludicrous first penalty , it didn't stop a goalscoring opportunity as the ball was in the back of the net and he hadn't blown his whistle so no need for the red card
No doubt he will reflect how bad he was when he's in bed with his sister !!

Has anyone ever been happy with a ref? Ever?

The club are appealing, they watched the incident on the DVD and it hits James' shoulder not his arm or hand, yes it was handball for toms goal, but the lack of consistency was showed when 30 seconds later there player committed a similar hand ball which the ref waved play on, subsequently they scored the 4th and killed the game off from that moment.

11 v 11 or 10 v 11 with a keeper we would of won that game quite comfortably

Don't know if anyone noticed Spurs first goal against United yesterday was deflected in off Johnny Evans' hand. To apply consistency in refereeing the goal should have been struck off,Spurs awarded a penalty and Evans sent off.

Personally I thought the ref had a very poor game yesterday, he seemed well out of his depth and commanded no respect from the players on either side. What's more worrying is that he seems to be the "blue eyed boy" of the MFA and looks to be getting fast tracked to the football league http://www.manchesterfa.com/news/2012/m ... s-kavanagh

In their desperation to get refereers, the various associations seem to be placing more emphasis on enthusiasm rather than ability. I don't believe for one minute that any ref goes onto the field to be bias or incompetent so the authorities have to shoulder the responsibility for placing them out of their depth. No other multi-million pound industry would allow a hobbyist to have such an influential position. I only hope that, as the article says, Mr Kavanagh was being assessed yesterday and the assessor reports that the poor lad was clearly not ready for this level, let alone the football league.

There was certainly an assessor there yesterday. He walked passed where I was selling programmes with his clipboard, FA Tie and smug arrogant grin which I notice they all seem to have.

Ivan Robinson, back in November 1968 against Plymouth.

But then, he did score the winning goal for us. ;)

Ben Toner (of Newport Game fame) is the 'blue eyed boy' of the LFA. If these are supposedly the best, what about the rest?!

Ben Toner hasn't just had Bayliss aggrieved, yesterday he seemingly disallowed a perfectly good Ebbsfleet goal at Stockport and had Liam Daish fuming at him and was also involved in more controvesy in another recent BSP game.
A lot of refs we've been getting lately do seem to be young and inexperienced and possibly promoted too early.
I think this has come about because of Micheal Oliver's rise from the Conf North to the Premier League. He was refereeing Barrow's games aged just 18 in Conf North and was always well respected by fans around the league. However the same cannot be said of many of the current ones who've seemingly been promoted too quickly.

Until the FA start pumping a decent amount of cash into this side of the game & get ex pro's to realise that a decent living could be made out of reffing we're going to be slating refs forever.
It's a totally ridiculous situation where we can have young lads (who even if they'd played the game cannot have had any real football experience) refereeing games at semi pro level & then being fast tracked through to FL.

I hope that's just tongue in cheek.

The advantage should go to the attacking side, and letting a goal stand is surely the advantage in this case.

And for the record, we're never ever going to get consistency with refs (unless we replace them all with technology) and arguing about the rights or wrongs of this or that is half the fun.
Admittedly, not much fun when it goes against you.
