I know what you're trying to say, but I just dont think we'd be able to lure Turnbull back to the club

Another 14 games and we will be able to judge DB against Wilson on an equal basis.

What an incentive to get some victories to improve the stats!

I'm glad someone else has looked into this as well. Basically the record since Shez left has been awful, must be one of the worst records in the history of the club. This is the single factor in why the crowds are so low.

Other than the last three games though Bayliss has been managing at a higher level so that needs to be factored in, size of the club means we are always likely to win more than we lose at conf north level but do well just to stay up at prem level. If any of our managers were tactical geniuses they wouldn't be managing us. Can we have just one day of supporting the team? The problems at barrow AFC are much deeper than the manager, the shambles behind the scenes directly affect the success on the field.

Lets not forget about the conf north unbeaten run which boosts d and d's stats.

Of course it does because they were successful!

Surely the unbeaten run isn't factored into DB's sole record?

Win/loss ratios are all well and good, but they can never be a truly fair comparison.

League
Budget
Opposition
Financial state of the club in general

All have an impact. Taking over a club in the Conf.North with decent players who just need some motivation, then going on an amazing run, is going to get you significantly better stats than trying to survive in a league above your realistic financial level, having just lost most of the previously mentioned motivated players who got you the promotion (due to going full time and being promoted)

Useful as a vague guide, sure, but let's not start comparing 40% in a league more suited to your natural level, to 25% in a league you never had any sensible chance of staying in long term. Would you have preferred Shez/Bayles to have got us relegated in the first season and currently be bossing a 60% win/loss percentage in the Ryman Premier?

Lets consider where we are, what they've achieved/not achieved and compare based on that. Personally, I doubt more than a handful of managers in the country could have kept us in the Conference for more than a handful of years. And none of them come with a pay packet smaller than the GDP of a small country.

Anyone who thinks DB is anything better than a below average football manager is deluded.

He is with Shez alongside him. On his own his record is dreadful.

Is bayles the best manager in the world? No. Obviously working in tier 5/6 for his career thus far obviously says he is below average as well but what he has done in often difficult circumstances has been decent, he isn't on a massive wage has what? 5/6 years managerial experience so I don't get all the shit he takes. He's made mistakes and he's the first to admit it, I'm not saying he's the messiah but you have to look at the bigger picture, his players barring the odd gem have been below average at the level we played at so how in gods name any amount of tactical genius is going to alter that is beyond me, man for man during our conference years overall our players weren't as talented as other clubs due to our budget, that's a fact, he kept a club that did nothing but financially struggle in non leagues top flight for 5 seasons, our best achievement when the garden he was cultivating was arrid as [SwearFilter]. He's done ok at times, brilliantly at other and sometimes bloody awful, just like any player at any non league club in the land and how often is inconsistency and loss of form defended with "if they weren't they'd be at a higher level" same goes for the manager, who pray tell on the wages we pay, with the budget we have had/have be A willing to stick it out or B have the success we have had? Yes Shez played a big part but he's not exactly set the work alight since leaving, as a pair they clicked, just like certain players are great, move clubs and it doesn't work out, that's football, Dave Bayliss is a standard non league boss, better about, worse about. Such is life. All in I'd keep him as he knows the hand he's been dealt others would fold that hand. He will have us as a top end conf north club providing the board doesn't implode and reasonably that's all we should expect of the club even with sir Alex as boss.

Try tell Stockport fans that size matters, it's not got them very much so far. If their forum posts are to be believed they look like they could be in for another very poor season. They are in meltdown 4 games in, Barrow were in melt down 3 games in.

I think there is nothing wrong with Bayliss results record this season. We have played 4 out of last seasons top 7 and got 4 points that is not bad. We have no idea how good or bad we are at this level, apart from the handful of games we have played. We will not likely know until we have played a lot more games. He's never managed at this level on his own and he has never had to completely rebuild a side. I don't think he is doing too badly.

0-1 Brackley (last season 3rd, playoff finalist) We were going to be very lucky to get anything. As it was they only just beat us.
1-2 Altrincham (last season 4th, lost to Brackley in playoffs) Not likely to get anything at alty, had them worried with 10 men towards end. Very unlucky with gifting them their 2nd goal.
2-2 BPA (last season 7th) How did they finish 7th if they are as bad as people say? Totally played off the park for 45mins, deserved or not they grabbed a point and came away without defeat.
1-0 Harrogate (last season 6th) Played well and should have scored the easiest chance of the game, but won it with a much harder but cracking free kick instead. Yes, Harrogate can't finish but that's not our problem. Well worth the 3 points.

Not the best manager but at least I don't think he'll get us relegated again... Unless lack of money means yet again we can't retain our best players. Fair number are non-contract and could be snapped up by other clubs with money if they start to perform. There are more clubs with lots of money at this level than there has ever been. He'll do well enough for us this season.
