This poster is exactly the type thing that happens when you get women involved in football

All for representative sides and the Performance Centre but I would like to question the timing of the trials.

Unless there has been a drastic improvement in girls' football in the last 4 years not every single girl is with a local club, some decent players just play for their schools. It might have been more sensible to give the schools a chance as well as the clubs to send players, therefore leaving it a week or two.

Barrow schools' F.A affiliation is slightly different to the local clubs' so I hope this doesn't mean they are getting left out. Not least because with a bit of joined up thinking you could use any Barrow Schools' representative fixtures(including lads) as the performance centre, rather than them simply playing local clubs- it means the children aren't being tugged this way and that to play. The whole aim of Docs (as I understood it) system used to be to get the local kids playing at a better level than local as much as possible, while not going to an academy system as this was a) too expensive b) resisted by the local junior clubs who lose so many away as it is.

Anyway, good luck with it.

Great to see this happening and long overdue.

The girl in the poster has just signed for Manchester City, playing in the womens super league and also represents England. Great to see a local getting the opportunity to progress and I'm sure the setting up of a girls performance centre will encourage more girls to become involved and hopefully support the club as well as represent it on the pitch.

Great point from barrowaberdeen about the timing.
