The "tent"

That is, the marquee bar at the crossbar end.

No idea the plans for it in the long run but can't help feel it's being a bit underimagined which is resulting in it being underused, potentially resulting in it being got rid of?

Really like the idea of the beer tent myself, just think it needs to be a bit more ambitious then an empty marquee and a bottle bar.

Id like to see it properly furnished again seen as all the tables and chairs seem to have gone. TVs or a projector and screen playing football pre match would be good too. Could look at getting a different local band/singer in it each game to entertain pre and post match, and maybe even start serving simple food in there?

Ultimately it would fit nicely with all Cassons plans for making the match day about more then just the 90minutes, get people to want to come and spend the day at the football. Club makes more money, fans have a better craic, everyone's a winner.

Agreed went in at the Dover game, good idea but there's nothing in there. Good suggestions above, TV's might make a difference, get some DVDs of old games playing?

Didn't go yesterday, how's the shop looking?

The potential for the tent is vast but has anyone got the interest to see it come to fruition? I haven't been in there since the first game as I thought it would be busy. I liked it and am surprised if it is being underused. Could it be because people prefer a pulled pint to cans? I am not too bothered about tv's etc, what's wrong with people just having conversations without a background of entertainment.?
It definitely needs some furniture though. It probably comes down to whether the takings cover the cost of the hire I would imagine.
Do you have to show your match ticket to get in there?
A case of watch this space I would think.

Totally agree Ste, it needs more in there than just a big space.

Chairs/tables.
Hospice perhaps having a set-up in there.
Would a bookie be allowed a table?
Food?
When the club have merchandise to sell, a table in there selling that (opening up a can of worms with that one!)
TV - definitely.

There has to be loads of ideas that would make it a more "welcoming" place to have a drink. It just seems a bit of a waste atm.

Will there be any room for people with all that in?
I heard originally that the marquee would go and a smaller tent would be in operation.
It must be costly to hire a marquee that size.

Great idea.

But you need someone within the club who will get the above things at least looked into.

Beer tent wont last the season which is a shame as it could be a great place for supporters.

Tvs, food and music could create abit of a fan zone.

Shame really.

Never used the big tent so far, not fussed on beer in cans tbh! Is it open after the match as the xbar was the quietest I've seen it in a long time yesterday???

The X-bar cellar is downstairs its rather simply to add extra pumps to existing and create a draught bar in the tent

They want the corporates only in the X Bar, there's little other explanation. Someone has got it in to their head there's some mass attempt to pay nowt to get in, or want to gentrify the support in the endless pursuit of being 'family friendly'. (See current steward 'surveillance' techniques)

I would suspect the Tent (which I haven't visited) was a stopgap- like a lot of things it's a great idea if done properly. Stick some pumps, chairs and pies in there. How hard can it be?

Come along chaps. You're aiming for sophistication. Along the lines of the "Brassed off" band member:

"It's not a bloody tent or even a bloody large tent. It's a bloody MARQUEE!

There was about 6 of us in the tent afterwards.
All 4 chairs that are in there were being used so I had to stand up.

I think it will only take off if you can get into it before coming into the ground. If you can't then it is not going to be used by fans as a meeting place pre-match. Get this right and set it out as a proper pre-match fan zone with all the things others have suggested and it would be good.
