As a Confrence National League club, Barrow now form part of the BBC's 'price of football' survey.

As I think we know, ticket prices at Barrow come out pretty cheap; we have the cheapest 'most expensive' tickets at £15, which presumably reflects our lack of corporate facilities. Our 80p tea is the cheapest in England, but we are beaten by Elgin City in Scotland who can do it for only 60p! Full data here.

If you take into account the deprivation level in Barrow, low employment and low income... Then £15 to watch a non-league football game isn't exactly cheap.

Please do not talk of "deprivation" and "austerity" to those who know what these words really mean. This old fart can still remember food and clothing rationing which continued for many years after the second world war. The generation before me suffered REAL austerity. This old, working fart also resents supporting those self-defined "working class" people who make a living from defrauding genuine working people by falsely claiming state benefits.

Football, television, mobile phones, holidays, etc., etc,. are luxuries not necessities. They are businesses which must pay their way or drown. They are also services which we, as individuals, can subscribe to or reject. Thus it is up to the individual whether he can afford to watch Barrow AFC play at home, follow them away or not at all.

So please don't complain about National League ticket prices. Try looking at a West End show or a day out at Blackpool.

Non league football is expensive yes if you could charge half and get double in it would be worth doing but it doesn't work like that

Barrow as a town is no different to any others

This is like that Monty Python sketch but you forgot the humor. I guess you don't spend much time walking around the poorest wards in Barrow where real poverty is very much on display. I guess you haven't seen people picking food from town centre bins recently. Congratulations on being able to afford 15 quid comfortably, many, many people in Barrow can't. Too be honest if you make the ticket prices £10 or £20 I don't think I'd would alter the attendance , 1400 say will come hail rain or shine , if you play well and are going well you can always add another 30-50% not just Barrow , most clubs are like this In the football pyramid! The good thing about Barrow is the area, if we are doing well we'd get 2000 + not much football going on from North -Carlisle , South way Morecambe/ Blackpool ! The fans attendance for the Tamworth game last home game last season and v Dover first game of this was great!

Interesting that in Barrow we're supposed to have the best pies in the country yet us and Bromley are the only two clubs not to sell them at games.

Tricky debate getting into what other people should or shouldn't spend their money on, mind.

While we're on this subject, there was something this morning I saw where some Kidderminster folks were boasting about the quality of their £4.50 pies.

Anyone had one? Better be bloody good at that price.
