Club and supporters, we all need to get a grip.......
Might sound like a controversial title but we must. Let me explain;
Supporters - I travel to many away games, and on quite a few occasions we let ourselves down. Few weeks ago my 3 year old daughter (who loves the footy) and a disabled Barrow fan were just missed by a firework thrown........yep, by a Barrow fan. I was livid, scared my young daughter who hasn't come again since and the poor disabled lady was beside herself. So yesterday, as I walk past the dugout there is a Barrow fan swearing and abusing Simon Grand during the first half, got so bad that Meeks had to step in. Now I'd rather he was concentrating on the match but hey ho - he can't allow the players to be abused in such a way. So we are all aware, if that was elsewhere, or if the Police had witnessed it, this would be a public order offence. Same 'fan' abused and swore at the Barrow stewards, giving up their Saturday to assist Fylde.....certain elements of our fan base take things too far and are not helping our situation one bit........
Club - yesterday was really bad, the team were never at the races. Interestingly Danny Livesey, our stand out player, had a right go at our stand in right back, Symington, referring to him a a 'f**ing lazy t**t' and really laying into him. Now I won't condone the language at all, but my point is that the team are not united, far from it. Ashton was having a real dig at a few also. There is clearly an issue that Edmo needs to address and explains the indifferent form. For me this is dangerous, as a broken dressing room is the start of a relegation battle. Some will say the players always abuse one another, but believe me, this was more than that, Symington didn't say a word. The players body language and display yesterday tells you everything..........we were not up for it and it showed.
I have supported Barrow for far too long, broke my leg supporting at the old Runcorn Town 25 years ago! But to be honest, due to both factors stated above, I am leaving it for a while now whilst things calm down. Don't enjoy the day anymore I'm afraid.

Re: Club and supporters, we all need to get a grip.......
Your first paragraph explains a couple of incidents which are unacceptable.I have only missed three games home and away and as yet have not witnessed any disorder among our own fans.The firework incident may have been at Halifax,a game I missed and hopefully the culprit was named and shamed and dealt with.I was behind the goal yesterday and the so called fan abusing Grand should have been ejected from the ground.I like away days having a couple of pints and generally enjoying the craic but I would never revert to actions mentioned above.
We carry quite a large amount of support to away games and generally the behaviour is what is expected at a match,but it is the odd one or two who perhaps don't travel regularly who are giving the club a bad name.
For me Symington had a decent game at RB yesterday but discord is creeping into the squad with players shouting abuse at each other.The performance was unacceptable yesterday and this needs to be sorted very quickly by Edmo or before you know it,we will be involved in a relegation dogfight.
I for one will still travel and have a moan now and again but I don't know how long Edmo has got left.Signings,tactics,subs and football need to be looked at and it may not be long before PC steps in and takes action.

If all this stuff about disharmony among the players, something I haven't noticed myself so far, is true then we really are in trouble.

The person (child) who chucked the firework was dealt with by the police i believe after handing himself in.
Was behind the goal so didnt see the Grand Meeks incident.
Most the time we travel away from home our fans are great they back the side and enjoy a beer or two.
Most clubs when they play a team closer to home or a big game will attract an idiot or two.

What if the lady wasn't disabled, would she still be 'poor' or not?
Not a fan of patronised sentiment. Wheelchair, crutches or not, a person is a person... Please stop making it sound worse because someone is disabled. It was bad, end of. You have no idea how much simple segregation like that can make people feel worthless.

Unfortunately the age range goes a little higher. No angrier group of people than Barrovians for some reason. More interested in getting [SwearFilter] and causing a row being 'top boys' than actually supporting the team and watching the game.The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:There seems to be a load of 14-17 year old knobheads attending games much more these days.

Correct!
Without harmony, loyalty and spirit in a team - you can be the best side in the world - but you won't WIN anything!...
It needs to be addressed...NOW!

Is Livesy okay to call a player a [SwearFilter] but it's unacceptable when a fan does? The language from the managers and players is a lot worse than the fans.ssgtfoster wrote:Might sound like a controversial title but we must. Let me explain;

The Livesey/Symimgton thing would worry me far more than a fan venting his anger

Christ knows what folk would think if Barrow actually had football hooligans half the time.
The young lad who threw the firework was 14. It was a monumentally stupid and dangerous thing to do. He handed himself in, got a trip to the station for his trouble and no doubt an almighty rollocking at home. What do people want?
The language gets out of hand at times and some of the abuse being dished out ain't great, but Barrow is no different to any other football club in that respect.
The players thing is a worry, but nobody moaned much when Bayes and Shezza, who could swear for England, were getting about the side.
