Any hardy souls on here who were at that Bob Lord Trophy game?

Yes, it was a night on the Abbot Ale in the Gander Green Lane bar. 'Rainy' as suggested in the report is a euphemism for the wettest night in London for years. We then contrived to miss the last train and had to get a black cab back to King's Cross...wasn't too bad, the driver was very cooperative and squeezed six or seven of us in thus the fare was manageable!

Yes I was there! Not one of our best evenings, it has to be said. Hopefully Saturday will see a much improved performance from the Barrow lads on the field (carpet?).
A group of us were at Gander Green Lane more recently, in completely different weather conditions, for the England C v Slovakia match this summer, giving Jordan Williams some vocal encouragement when he came on as substitute.

Won't forget that one in a hurry (Bob Lord final, not England C). A post on Sutton's forum describes the rain that night as "almost Biblical". I think I'd lose the "almost" from that description.
I also remember us coming back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 to ensure we stayed in the Conference in our first season back there in 1989-90 under Ray Wilkie. Nice sunny afternoon that one, though.

Yes, I was at that one. I seem to remember that we were a bit lucky to get a point, but can't recall precise details. We actually finished well clear of relegation, so I assume you mean that this was the point that made us mathematically safe.

^That's what I meant; thanks for clarifying. The way I remember it was at 3-3 we seemed to be on top, but because we needed just the one point to be mathematically safe, eased off a bit. The reason I remember this is because there was a Sutton fan who was giving us Barrow fans a bit of grief for settling for safety first.
As for that 5-0 that rainy Monday, I seem to remember it was 4-0 at half-time and that they scored the fifth in the first minute of the second half. Vague memory that Kev Proctor scored an own goal?
