I'm sure somebody on here or from the club must know if the 24 games has broke/is close to a record?
I've just checked the results and we have only lost 3 in the last 43 Games! (including the Lancashire Cup)
If we can keep our best players, add to the squad and improve the infrastructure we may end up with a very bright future. I hope we really push this season as there is a lot of money being spent in the league and we don't seem to be doing that, which I guess protects the existence of the club but I really can't see us getting a better chance of promotion for many more years.

The
Statto website isn't comprehensive as it doesn't include the NPL years or FA Trophy matches, but it's still a fairly good indicator.
That identifies our longest
League run without a loss as 18 games in the Conference North promotion season under Daz n Dave, through to the first couple of games of the next season. We are currently 17 in the league without a loss, so we can match our league record with the Boreham Wood match.
As we were out of all the cups by the time the 2008 run started, we know that we're on a better all-competitions winning run than in 2008. The answer is it is probably a record, but you'd have to get our results from the NPL years too.
The FCHD has full season summaries, and the obvious one to look at is 83-84 when we only lost 3 league games all season. We went out of both cups pretty quickly that year (FA Cup 1Q, FA Trophy 2R), so it would presumably have to had been in the second half of that season: that seems the only likely time for us to have matched this current run.
-
Edit - the other one to look at would be 95-96, as we made the FA Cup 2nd Round that year, as well as losing only 9 league matches - if we had a good run in the Autumn of that year it's plausible we matched the current run?

Came across this article showing the English top 6 longest runs of unbeaten games in all competitions...
http://talksport.com/football/revealed- ... 186114?p=0
1. Nottingham Forest - 40 (1978)
2. Man Utd - 33 (1999)
3. PNE - 28 (1889)
3. Everton - 28 (1984)
3. Arsenal - 28 (2007)
6. Liverpool - 25 (1982)
Starting to feel quite lucky having a team like this, now 25 unbeaten and only lost 3 in 44!

FORTY IS THE MAGIC NUMBER TO BEAT
By Phil Yelland, from the Barrow v Matlock Town programme
There has been a lot said this season about records. One of the talking points has been our longest time unbeaten at home.
In modern times, that record runs to 29 League games between losing at home to Dagenham in the Alliance Premier League in May 1982 and losing at home to Kidderminster Harriers in the same competition - then known as the Gola League - in November 1984. That included our Northern Premier League title-winning season of 1983-84, when we went through the season unbeaten at home.
However, lurking in the depths of history is an even better run that covers 40 games in all competitions.
It began in the 1909-10 season when the club was playing in the Lancashire Combination Second Division. On January 15 1910, the eventual League champions, Glossop Reserves, visited and won 2-1. Little did anyone know what was to follow. The team were unbeaten in their remaining eight home League outings that season with the following results: Ashton Town 1-1; Atherton 3-3; Cl!theroe Central 4-0; Darwen 5-0; Haslingden 1-0; Heywood 2-0; Rochdale 1-1; Walkden Central 4-1.
The following season was remarkable. The club finished runners-up in Division Two to Haslingden and won promotion, but their home form in both League and Cup was literally unbeatable. They were unbeaten in their 19 home League games: Ashton Town 8-0; Atherton 2-1; Bacup 4-0; Chester 4-0 ; Darwen 4-0 ; Denton 2-0; Earlestown 4-0; Eccles Borough 4-1; Fleetwood 1-1; Great Harwood 3-0; Haslingden 5-1; Heywood 3-1; Hindley Central 7-0; Hyde 4-0; Padiham 3-0; Rossendale United 6-1; St Helens Town 4-1; Tranmere Rovers 3-1; Walkden Central 4-3. Plus in the FA Cup: Windermere 7-0; Penrith 3-1. And in the Lancashire Junior Cup: Lancaster Town 1-0; Bacup 0-0. That took the run to 31 games.
Having moved into the Lancashire Combination First Division, the run continued in the League: Accrington Stanley 0-0; Bacup 5-1; Haslingden 3-0; Nelson 2-0. In the FA Cup: Penrith 7-0; Windermere 4-1; Kendal Swifts 9-0; Rochdale 1-0. And in the Lancashire Senior Cup: St Helens Recreation 5-2.
On December 7 1911, Watford came calling for an FA Cup Fifth Qualifying Round Replay. The previous Saturday, the teams had drawn 2-2 in Hertfordshire, but now the Southern League team recorded a 2-1 win to end Barrow’s unbeaten home run of 40 games.
However in terms of the League, the run was to continue until March 9 1912 – over two years since the Glossop game. The team played another six League games before falling to defeat: Chester 1-1; Chorley 1-1; Denton 2-0; Eccles Borough 2-1; St Helens Town 4-1; Walkden Central 5-0.
So after 37 unbeaten home League games, the run was ended by St Helens Recreation who finished as runners up in the League that season, two places above Barrow, with a 3-2 win.
The team was to go on another incredible run of a further 21 home games in all competitions before losing at home again – 1-0 at home to Walkden Central in the League on February 1 1913.

It will be some season when we beat that run. Good work there from Phil Yelland - an obsessive supporter who isn't even from Barrow so he has no real excuse for his obsession. He must drive his wife nuts but I supposed she will be used to it by now.

Thanks for posting that, Ralph; I didn't buy a programme on Saturday.
Phil Yelland's various programme items are always interesting; he must put a massive amount of effort into his research. It is appreciated.
