As you all know, Barrow AFC and Paul Cox have parted company. We have had our philosophical differences for some time and while we struggled mightily to make it work, in the end we mutually agreed that it was probably the right time to separate.

While the timing was a shock it was something we were preparing for.

Paul has a great belief in his playing methodology and while we respect the success that brought us, football is a constantly evolving game, and therin lies the difference.

Our squad has been designed thus far to provide a greater flexibility in playing styles. It will constantly evolve. We need to create for our exciting young talent to be able to develop. There is no transfer deadline to restrict our ability to bring in players at any time, and Paul Ogden is continuing his search for talent.
I appreciate that change is difficult especially when we have enjoyed unprecedented success, however seventh is not good enough and so we must change.

Only time will tell if we are correct or not. I would respectfully ask that everyone holds their judgment until Christmas. If we've got it wrong I will be the first to hold my hands up and we will work diligently to address whatever the issues are. We have one goal this year and that is promotion. Our team is loaded with young players that have played successfully at a higher level, more than we have ever had before. They aren't inexpensive and our player outlays are estimated to be 30% higher than last season.

Football is a passionate game so I somewhat understand the colourful rhetoric that is being expressed. In our opinion the sky is far from falling, in fact it's sunny & blue. Am I right? Only time will tell.

Cox has only had 5 games this season and before Dagenham he lost a major player in Bennett with little time to get a replacement.

Even if our budget is estimated to be 30% higher (estimated figure needs to be clarified to an exact figure if it's being quoted) than last season there are other clubs with a far higher budget than us and more who had a way higher budget than us last season so 7th is probably about right. I really don't think anyone can complain after last season when we had the Cup/Trophy runs and a good league campaign, were close to the play-offs and sold 3 players for 230K.

Paul Cox is a well respected manager who won't be out of a job for too long and there aren't many more like him, if he didn't get on with Casson then who can? Cox is used to demanding chairman and the fact he couldn't get on with Casson is a worry. Paul Casson seems to want to do things his way when it's the manager who knows more about the football than him.

The line about playing methodology is also implying that he wants us to play sexy, attractive, entertaining football but that won't win this league.
This is sounding more and more like Casson wanted Cox out despite what he achieved last season and its as almost as they knew the appointment of Ogden and reducing Cox's influence would force Cox to leave the club which it sadly has done.
The statement answers some questions but raises more.
