It is extremely hard to ignore the quite obvious despondency we have at BAFC the last few weeks and months. This can be put down to a whole load of factors granted. But one things for certain. 18 months ago when we were riding the crest of a promotion wave and during the early part of last season when we went on an unbelievable unbeaten run things weren't quite like this. The gates were low yes but morale was high still.

starting last January things started to turn sour. First the January lack of funds, then we missed the playoffs, then we sold "some" of our best players. We then didn't recruit well enough did we? These were further mistakes as a CLUB! but for me they were really some of the first mistakes the Casson family have made. I also don't believe the ground vision plans that Paul Casson voiced so frequently were mistakes. Planning offices , rules and regulations, grant applications and lack of space just cannot be avoided, swerved or dodged in anyway and the fact he shared this vision with us in my eyes shows his passion and desire and that is something I as a bluebird can relate to.

we don't tend to talk about the good as much because as barrow fans we have a certain feeling that We belong in the league! We hadn't really thought that possible until Casson came along and because he promised it we now have renewed drive as fans. This however is coming across all to negative. IMO recently this forum has descended into idiocracy there is barely any football related talk and most threads do become personal and trashy very quickly. We tried the holker end craic didn't work. And now we have a hide user button. What is all that about. Can we really as a fan base not even communicate or interact on a message board?

We do need to remember though that this forum is not the only place barrow AFC exists, nor is it the only place we can talk about our club. It is made up of a lot of people who for various reasons cannot attend matches or choose not too and I get that too. I live in Blackpool and I don't attend as much as I would like but I make the effort. When I see people face to face it isn't quite as gloomy but it still isn't the same. We need to get a grip ! Myself included...

This club. Our club! Needs us all to get behind each other, get behind the owner, get behind the team and whoever is appointed to lead them. And get us back to the promised land. It can be done I believe it will be done but not without our full support!

Every inch of this great town was built by its own son. BLUEBIRDS

Whoa there. I do not feel despondent about Barrow AFC. I have attended every home match and quite a few away games and I will continue to do so. I enjoy supporting Barrow.
The only despondency is is on this forum because of a couple of posters who are just totally negative. They shout forever that the club is in trouble and have useless management and a poor team and it is just not true. Shout something for long enough, loud enough and repeat it often enough and people start to believe it's true.
The changes in the team are commonplace in this league. The present team have not shown any form yet but it is early in the season and I believe there are some good players with enough talent to turn things around.
The dip in form after the winter month beginning with J coincided with the loss of Yates, the injury to Harrison and Williams dip in form. The club is a money pit (as is every club) and Casson is right to try and control spending. Very sensible. This is now history, move on.
The appointment of Ogden is also a commonplace set up at many league clubs and let's see how it works out.
The hide button is very useful and IMHO a good addition. I no longer read the shite from the doom and gloom posters. They are endlessly repetitive now so I know their opinions.
I do not believe that Cox was the Messiah every else thinks he was. Reminded me of Don Revie at Leeds and Jack Charlton at Middlesborough long balls head tennis etc way too many draws and unattractive football which does not draw crowds. Casson is trying to change this to improve attendences. Short term pain for long term gain?
Onwards and upwards let's have a good win on Saturday :D :D :D

Here we go again another doom & gloom post, one of the reasons I no longer partake this forum or matchday experience

Its not a doom and gloom post. Its just the reality the club is in at the moment. You might not want to accept it but Barrow AFC are 2 points off the relegation zone and don't have a permanent manager after arguably the best manager in recent times (if not ever) has resigned because the owner got in his way.

You don't go to games anymore because of what you read on here? How sad.

That's a good post that, and represents how the vast majority feel. You probably won't get a large number of agreeable replies sadly,in fact will probably get hijacked by the irritant, but we can ignore that. When you think about it this forum has maybe 10 negative posters, half don't even visit Holker st,my maths ain't that good but I reckon that equates to 0.5% of our home support, things ain't all that downbeat if you consider that.

A decent manager? Yes and probably the best manager in recent times. Best manager ever? Nowhere near. Off the top of my head Ray Wilkie, Vic Halom, Don McEvoy, Colin Appleton, Joe Harvey all better managers than Paul Cox with teams playing better football.

Not a chance is Cox the best manager we've ever had.

In recent years he is by far. Maybe not of all time but given the time and freedom his reputation deserved he could have easily been.

Shouldn't confuse doom and gloom on this forum with doom and gloom around the club.

Both as Barrovians and BAFC supporters we have historically been world class in doom and gloom (and often for good reason). If you've been around BAFC for long enough then you'll know that by comparison our current situation does not even touch the surface of the true definition of doom and gloom. Quite frankly, I've actually been surprised at the level of optimism over the last 18 months as its an emotion seldom associated with BAFC supporters for that long.

The prevailing view seems to be that certain people are bringing the tone down on the forum. Being the bottle half empty, rather pessimistic Barrovian that I am I might argue that all that is happening on the forum is that expectations are being brought down to normal historical levels from recent giddy unsustainable heights.

Sometimes we make the mistake of believing that we as supporters lead the club forward in some way. Truth is the opposite of course. We are and have always been followers. We are influenced by the club far more than it is influenced by us. So if a number of forum members views are negative and seen by some as stuck in a time warp its at least partly because the club has not delivered in changing the prevailing views. Now would be a good opportunity to start to change that.

Might be 2 points off the relegation zone but with 7/46 games played and only 4 points off 10th position, the team are definitely not in a relegation battle. Doesn't matter who you compare as managers at this early stage of the season. Plus with key players missing and the team still yet to gel the rest of the season could become exciting, you just never know
