Easter monday

Hi all just been told in derby this affer that the football and rugby are due to clash easter monday this year and the rugby are refusing to move there fixture despite there league ok ing it. I support both Barrow teams and it does my brains in. Why oh why cant we work together in situations like this instead of silly childish refusals to co operate. A clash means both gates are down. Stewarding numbers are down so need to pay for more staff to come in and cover it. And of course for those of us who arent short sighted we have to choose which match to go to. Why cant the clubs work together and come up with a sensible solution. Maybe rugby at 12.30 football at 3. Football at 3 rugby at 5 maybe. Shuttle buses between the to grounds to make sure nobody misses kick off. Just seems like a complete waste for both clubs if this isnt sorted. We should be looking to make the most of bank holidays like this. Make extra money with Joint ticket deals etc. Instead it looks like both will miss out. Very disappointing

Shame. Shuttle bus service is a great idea. Maybe a deal on a joint ticket price which includes bus shuttle. I think our club needs to do more for the fans and agree that the clubs should work together. We are one town.

Agree with everything you say. One of those occasions where you’d hope there’d be some joined up thinking.

Shame for sponsors as well when our shirt sponsor is also the rugby stadium sponsor.

The away teams / officials would need to agree to a change as well and then there’s away fans travelling. A few things to sort out but surely could have worked something out.

Not good but I wonder how many will actually have to make a choice?
I would estimate about 20 at the most.

It is Barrow AFC who refused to move their kick off time. The rugby tried too move theirs but Swinton declined to help.

I fully agree. I am season ticket holder at both. The way the Raiders are administered is nothing short of ametueristic. They could easily play the game at 6:30 K-O to give a good chance of a decent crowd. Plus they will have to pay for extra security as there are a number of "security" who do both Clubs. Sometimes I think the Raiders dont want any1 watching them

Most Stewards who do the rugby also do the football. They have also stated football comes first... So it looks like only 2 Stewards do the rugby and not football. Can the rugby allow the public to stand in to cover Stewarding ??? health and Safety !!
Will they allow supporters in to watch the game without Stewards. ??

Our fixtures were out first, the Braves could/should have requested that their fixture didn’t clash.

Given that the football fixtures came out in July last year and the Rugby fixtures came out this year, this problem, if it is really a problem, has been created entirely by the rugby league authorities. You would have thought that they would want to maximise attendances for their sport and check that there was nothing happening locally that might affect their gates adversely before arranging fixtures. It is also clearly not fair on people who support both clubs.I think the soccer and rugby last played at home together at Easter in 2013. On that occasion we had a gate of around 1004 and the rugby had one more! I think we were playing Ebbsfleet and heading for relegation. This season we are in slightly better position, our playing style is becoming more attractive and we are playing local rivals. Hopefully we can get 1500 to the Rugbys 1000 and show we are the bigger club in town!!

Failing that wouldn't mind a 5.30 kick off for us means more time in the pub which normally means a better atmosphere.
