Relegation compensation !

Perhaps the most disappointing season since 1972 is finally drawing to it's sad conclusion but you can still get 11/4 with Bet Victor that we will be relagted ! So why not have an 'insurance' bet, you can then smile if we survive the drop or count the cash if we don't.

The absence of replies to your post says it all. Enjoy your winnings if that happens. Sad.

The bet never existed, Bet Victor didn’t have a market on relegation at the time of the post

The most disappointing season since 1972, most seasons have been disappointing. That's the nature of being a Barrow fan a few highlights alomg the way but a history of struggle.

Why people think this is so depressing is that we thought the Casson era was a chance to change that but it all turned shit we have simply defaulted to our natural place of constant struggle.

What depresses me is that hardly anyone is blaming Pennock, mainly the Cassons which is unfair, especially considering the money they've put in (and lost).

Listen to Adam's interview with Pennock after yesterday's game and Pennock sounds like a man caught in the headlights with no positive plan to get us out of this.

I have to agree. Pennock came as an experienced manager at this level and I expected him to make more of an impact. I said as much in February, when I was getting worried about the lack of any marked improvement.

I understand this exactly and have the same views, Pennock has not been able to halt the slide, whether he has been backed in the player market, I am not sure, but I remember his FGR teams coming here and they always looked fitter / stronger than us. He hasn’t got those type of players here and has not had much of a squad depth to change things

I also agree, He’s had backing, he’s had time, he’s brought his own man in, but you have to say Pennock has not been able to halt the slide.
Meh. You can say he's had backing, but of the players who he's brought in (Arnold, Cook, McDonald, Walters, James, James, Holt, Waterston), most are loan signings, ones a young local lad and then Holt. Not as if he's been allowed to splash any cash, despite what I imagine would be cumulatively big wages going in the way of Harrison, Yussuff, Harvey and Hughes.

In terms of players good enough for this level and this type of relegation fight, just for the starting XI we're short of a right back, a centre back, two wingers and a striker, and that's before you even think about subs, squad depth, changing it round etc...

Got to agree it's been make do and mend at best!!
Maybe Ady Pennock hasn't been forceful enough in his demands (was Grant Holt sort of forced on Pennock??)
With budgets probably more than spent prior to his arrival his hands appear to have been tied somewhat. Steve Arnold has been the one player brought in of Ady's genuine choosing and it looks like he had to have a clear out in order to make that happen, then we have been reliant on loanee’s who are more than likely funded by releasing our highest earners.
But saying that a good manager needs to get the best out of what he has, this clearly hasn't happened with any consistency at all.

Did the manager not choose to spend the Harvey/Hughes dividend on a more professional approach to support training and match preparation (including meals, opportunity to stay over before home matches, etc.)?

I agree so the question is why did Pennock come here?
Why move to Manchester when you were going to a club who would not back you with decent transfer signings plus the fact he had watched Barrow and it doesn't take a football genius to work out what we needed and I still don't get the Yusseff situation scores a hatrick then frozen out!

Surely you need to get the squad sorted out first I personally think all what you say is a smokescreen to distract us from the fact he's not really a good manager!

According to Adam Virgo in today's NLP, "Ady Pennock has steadied the ship somewhat at Barrow. I think (they) will stay up."

Hmmm.

Was he the chap who tipped Sunderland for promotion back to Premier league and Man U to win the Champions League. ;)
