In Evatt we trust and all that but I dread to think the stick certain previous managers would have got for making a signing with a similar goal scoring record

I did suggest that when the new faces started to arrive they might not be household names...….

However you dont drag a youngster from down these parts and put him on a two year deal unless he's impressed somebody.

A two-year-deal shows confidence from Evatt. On paper, people may have their doubts - but it isn't the first time and certainly won't be the last - that these types of players join and go on to enjoy decent spells. On the other hand, it could go the other way. Time will tell.

Waterston out, Penfold in. One Whippersnapper for another. Not much risk there as long as priced correctly.

He seemed to score quite a few for the U23s. Jamie

Tyler Smith was an unknown who scored plenty at youth and under 23 level. Let's hope Ian Evatt has unveiled another goal getter.

I can see signs of the ‘negative mindset’ that Evatt sometimes complains about. Who is to say he is intended as a first choice, 20+ goals striker? Evatt wants a squad of 22, so perhaps he is an investment, to be coached and developed, initially a pact impact sub?
