Our Pitch

In today's post-match interview IE said he is concerned about the state of our pitch and with at least 9 home games remaining he hopes Gareth can do something with it as it's a big part of how we play our football. I don't know how many people Gareth has in his team but could he do with any additional assistance from supporters to give him a hand with whatever needs doing? IE mentioned divots and that the pitch is not as good as it was last season. I'm willing to give my spare time to help if Gareth needs it.

Aye he does miracles with the pitch and should be applauded a cherished asset to the club for a number of years now.

Gareth does a brilliant job with the pitch and is not just a groundsman but a fan. In darker days he certainly helped the club maintain a pitch at a higher level than what they were paying for.

I guess any pitch gets muddy in winter and it’s why the top teams use UV lights to replenish as it won’t grow in the winter months without it, saying that Gareth has done a top job, one of the Atherton fans on Tuesday commented saying it looked like a carpet.

I'd definitely support that

Gareths job must be made so much harder because of the style of football we play, it needs to be near perfect all of the time.
Before he had a contract of any sorts he came down the ground one close season Sunday morning and said he’d like to help out if possible and he’d offered to cut the grass (it was literally A foot high around the edges and looked terrible all over, just clumps with bare soil between) someone at the club at that time had told him it was close season and didn’t need cutting...! honestly, that’s the truth.
Anyway, he got straight to it and we’ve been lucky enough to have kept him ever since. A great asset to the club.

Did anyone hear Radio Cumbria post-match where James Phillips said that the lights they have at Brunton Park were a donation from Cumbria dibble, after being seized from a cannabis grower. Very resourceful.

Pretty sure that how Leeds rhinos got theirs as well. There must be someone on here that knows a weed farm they can grass on to keep our surface top notch

The playing surface is a credit to the Groundstaff but maybe the club should consider "moving" any future reserve team games to give it a break.
I don't know what the relationship is like with Holker Old Boys but I'd of thought a reserve match at Rakesmoor Lane would bring them in much needed extra income, with all the additional bar revenue a gate of say a hundred/ two hundred would bring, plus how about playing a few "home" reserve team fixtures at Milnthorpe.

Surely with the crowds we are getting now it can be increased again if Evatt wants it to be?

Reserves haven't played at HS since October (ish) for this exact reason
