Barrow AFC can now confirm its retained list following the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign.

We have 10 players who remain under contract with the Club:

Ollie Banks
Tom Beadling
Patrick Brough 
Bobby Burns
Jamie Devitt
Luke James
James Jones
Mike Jones
Matt Platt
Scott Quigley

The Club has exercised the one-year option on the contracts of the following players:

Connor Brown
Dimitri Sea

New contracts have been offered to four players and the Club will report further news on these in due course:

Brad Barry
Joel Dixon
Kgosi Ntlhe
Jason Taylor

Lewis Hardcastle has now formally retired from professional football due to ill health, but we continue to offer support to him and his family and offer best wishes for his next step.

The following players have been released at the end of their contracts and the Club would like to thank them for their efforts and wish them every success in the future:

Dion Donohue
Callum Gribbin
Sam Hird
Josh Kay
Josh Lillis
Scott Moloney
Mikael Ndjoli

Chris Taylor

The Club is currently reviewing its backroom team and further discussions are due to take place with Sam Hird and Josh Lillis in the coming days.

Calvin Andrew obviously made a decent impact, Chris Taylor played plenty of games; those two might have made a case for staying but even then tbh we need better/younger players.

Only surprise for me is Sam Hird. Felt he could have played a role at the club as player-coach.

Slightly surprised - but not at all disappointed that they've kept Connor Brown.
Dmitri Sea is still only 19 or 20 - so keeping him is a good move, he has promise.
Of the 4 offered deals i'm guessing Taylor will combine playing and possibly a coaching role.
Brad Barry I hope stays - but it might depend on any offers he gets nearer home (because of just becoming a dad - which most of us can understand).
Kgosi Ntlhe earned a new deal - he may not start - but is a reliable back up.
and Joel Dixon - well we all know the situation there... I hope he stays - but think it's unlikely.

Of those released only Calvin Andrew and possibly Scott Wilson i would have looked at keeping

Interesting to see Mike Jones and Bobby Burns listed. Are we guessing they will be fit and raring to go by August ? Seen mention that Burns is almost back training and in the meantime has been co-commentating for BBCNI on Irish League games. Possibly may not want to return.

What’s so interesting about it? Both signed two year deals so both are still under contract with us
