Adam Temple Appointed As Assistant Manager

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Temple as the Club’s First Team Assistant Manager.

Temple is set to start work immediately and will join our recently appointed team of First Team Manager, Peter Wild and Sporting Director, Iain Wood.

The Bluebirds have had to move quickly to secure the appointment of Temple, who has a wealth of experience having begun his coaching journey at the age of just 16 at Manchester United has most recently been working in the Academy at Premier League champions, Manchester City.

“I’m delighted to have Adam join our team,” commented boss Wild.

“He’s a highly sought-after young coach who brings outstanding experience of working in a world class football environment and is exactly the right person to help us deliver on our development plans.”

Temple undertook a coaching scholarship with United in 1999 and went on to spend the next 15 years with the Old Trafford outfit. His varying roles gave him a taste of coaching across the club’s community, education, disability and girls’ programmes, as well as responsibility for some of the younger age groups within their famed Academy.

The A Licence qualified coach was then handed the opportunity to broaden his experience with a move to Oldham Athletic where he was able to work with a number of age groups in The Latics’ Academy from Under-12s all the way through to Under-18s.

Having developed his trade and his reputation, Temple was then offered a role at Manchester City and has spent the past eight-and-a-half years working with youngsters in their Academy, whilst also taking on some extra one-on-one coaching with older players as they pushed for the First Team.

“Working with Pete on such a project as this one at Barrow was a compelling opportunity and presents an appropriate next challenge for me in my career,” Temple told us.

“I am ambitious to learn and progress in the EFL, so this is a great place to start, I am delighted to be here, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Welcome Adam,one benefit I can see is that he might be able to bring a couple of top quality players from the city academy that need game time,the city academy is well known for attracting top talent and especially because with us training in Manchester area any players wouldn’t have to move so could be win win

Happy that Wild’s brought someone in to assist him. Slightly worrying that this chap seems to have no experience coaching or working in men’s football.

Fair enough, missed that, that’s the extent of it though.

Doesn't appear to have much experience in men's football. Another football coach out of a book, no experience of playing or coaching at this level. Jury very much out on this one for me.

The club is going all in on this with the appointments of the football director, a new manager and an assistant all new to Barrow AFC and all with a new training base. Let’s hope this set up proves successful and we can finally start getting some stability and grow into being a League club. Steady progress on the pitch and a good footballing identity would be progress.....just stop calling us a project!

20+ years of coaching, and loads of City's brightest prospects praising him on his Twitter. But he clearly knows nowt.

I would think that woman footballers are a lot more positive and it's in the men's game T o that you see them diving like big jessies.

We had a European cup winner in Brian Kidd managing us and he did nothing.
Bobby Charlton a World Cup winner did nothing at Preston.

Personally think people need to move on from the "has no experience in men's football" concern. Can see these type of appointments becoming more common, especially as coaches and assistants. Let's be honest, if you rigidly stick to ex-players you get:

1. Same old faces from the managerial merry-go-round who have failed umpteen times over
2. Experienced former players who are simply not up to the job, but get appointed on the name and games played

Just because Jolly was a cock doesn't mean every young "career coach" is also a cock.
