The carpet that is Holker st has never looked so good and a credit to a man who puts in way more hours than he is contracted to do.

Gareth and the gang, you do a remarkable job on the pitch. We had all that rain last Saturday morning and it only stopped an hour before the Crewe match kicked off. I said to a pal, this pitch has held up fantastically well bearing in mind how much rain had fallen in the hours just before kick-off. Just brilliant, highest praise goes to Gareth and all who work on it.

I believe he is Self Employed.

I remember the day Gareth came into reception asking to speak to someone, explaining he had his own business but was offering his services to work on the pitch on a voluntary basis.
A great gesture and he put the hours in, one night at 8-30 whizzing up and down on his mower in the dark.
I'm sure he has put many many more hours in than he gets paid for.
A man who takes a great pride in his work.

Remember this. And to think there were some at the club not too sure to give someone without the required pitch maintenance experience a crack at it when we were really struggling. If he hadn’t turned up a matter of days before the first friendly it wouldn’t have gone ahead. The pitch looked like a meadow - dandelions the lot.
Gareth and his team are a real credit to the club.

I,m not surprised another club has tried to poach Gareth the pitch looks as flat as a bowling green and even after all that rain on Tuesday the pitch looked fantastic.We have to give him some credit for the team's wins at home,because the players will know when they pass a ball it will go where they intended it to instead of hitting some random bump.He obviously loves his job as you can see in the quality of his work.Well.done to him and all his team.Long may he continue to look after our pitch.
