Up for the cup
Maidstone Utd stand in our way of a possible lucrative £rd round tie, PW has said if we are not fully on it we could lose and its his job to get the players prepared physically and mentally so this tie doesn't become a banana skin. Its the FA cup and upsets occur all the time.
Barrow though on a great run of form and have not lost a game by more than one goal apart from Blackpool and Morecambe in the pizza cup with arguably weakened teams. Me i still fancy a Barrow win by the odd goal and please no replay.

Just get through the tie if it means winning on pens that will do for me.
Re: Up for the cup
Announced on the Official site that Wild will be banned from the dugout for this game due to being red carded at Colchester.

Re: Up for the cup
I have a feeling that this could go to a replay.
Bearing in mind the problems that Taunton provided in a replay Holker Street, a few seasons back, I still think we would hammer Maidstone on our own soil.

The FA Cup is great, until the PL clubs come into it and bore everyone silly.
Maidstone v Barrow is what the cup is all about, and who knows, maybe the replay will be televised.

Always tricky these ties, obviously we know what it’s all about being the underdogs as well over the years.
Hoping we can get through and get that dream 3rd round match up

Re: Up for the cup
One of the most positive aspects of our games so far has been our level of consistency. It doesn’t swing wildly from game to game.
If you can bring that level to this FA Cup tie then that should be enough. But I know this is the cup and strange stuff can happen.
I feel really mercenary about this game. It does not really define our season. It’s about the prize money. The more of it we can get the better.

Re: Up for the cup
BBC predicting -2oC tonight and -3oC tomorrow night in Maidstone. That’s even colder than here!
If it is postponed, will it be played in the usual slot reserved for a replay?

It’s only complete guesswork, but plastic pitches may be a different consideration to grass ones, and affect the viability of being playable. I’ll bow to anyone else’s superior knowledge on this one.
Re: Up for the cup
During the winter months an artificial grass pitch will retail a large moisture content and inevitably this moisture will freeze, causing the surface to become hard and often unsafe to play on. It is not uncommon for a synthetic surface to remain frozen even when surrounding natural grass areas have thawed.Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 4:16 pmIt’s only complete guesswork, but plastic pitches may be a different consideration to grass ones, and affect the viability of being playable. If we keep up our current form Maidstone will not be able to live with us, another 4-1 methinks

Frost won't get it cancelled on a 3G pitch! The only thing which will get it called off is heavy snow.

Cheers mate. That’s excellent news.Jacko the Stone wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 6:48 pmFrost won't get it cancelled on a 3G pitch! The only thing which will get it called off is heavy snow.
Re: Up for the cup
The only games that have ever been cancelled on it have been due to heavy snow making the surrounding roads impassable. It’s nearly ten years old now and showing its age, but passes its annual inspection. Will be replaced next season.

Re: Up for the cup
They do end up having periodic pitch inspections for the reasons stated above.
Postponements however are always due to incidents or conditions outside the ground. The stadium is situated in a depression and is quite low lying.
