Wouldn’t it be nice to progress in this competition. I think we've only got out of the group stage once. I read somewhere that clubs can make more prize money from this competition than the Carabao Cup.

Much as I agree with the sentiment, the EFL trophy was never meant for a club like ours.

Truth is, we have no U-21 or academy squad that you would ideally need to draw from for what is essentially a three game mini tournement. So the rationale for these games at this stage will always involve giving minutes to the returning injured, the newly acquired, the bench sitters and the not-quite-good-enoughs.

The pattern never changes. Firstly work out who you can spare, then figure out a formation that will work with the players you’ve got and finally trust the players you go with to deliver a performance at odds with what they may have previously delivered. No surprise you end up with a thumping at the likes of Blackpool.

Such a pity since it is a reasonably easy way of picking up a few grand of “free” money.

Game time for Winterbottom , Booty , Scott Smith , Worrall , Whitfield , Harper , Poku , Walker , Cameron & Shamalo is the only positive really while playing to the competition rules around X amount of players starting

Could do without playing any of our starting back 5 but injuries to Canavan , Foley & Kerr Smith don’t leave us much choice… unless anyone local lads want a shot

Regarding booking tickets for tomorrow's match,can somebody tell me if only the main stand is open.I tried to find the terracing,but it didn,t seem to be available.

The trouble is that it is on Sky.I met a few people who said they were going to watch it rather than go to the game.I tried to encourage them.to go to the game but to no avail.This Sky contract could end up costing the club a lot of money.You only have to see that our average crowd has gone down by 500 this season.It,s about time that the money from Sky was better shared out amongst the lower league clubs instead of most of it being kept by the Premier League.

I said at the time it was a god awful deal and Tony Sheater said much the same at a club Q&A last season

It's down to that 500 or so that have gone missing as well as Sky. It shows how much they care about the club.

I don't think it's just down to Sky. Performances haven't been good which will also affect attendance, and word gets around the floaters who then stop coming as well. That may be closer to the truth.

You can't blame lower attendances when the match isn't being televised, although many people now have dodgy sticks. People have left comments on here saying they watched it on TV when it wasn't broadcast to the mass of people.

There's also two sides to the TV coverage as they also cover away games as this coming Saturday, so benefitting people who don't travel to away games.
