Neil McDonald’s first game in charge
Could we see a win under Neil McDonald
Would be brilliant but imagine we pulled in Steve Bruce as first team manager and rob kelly with Steve Bruce alongside Kelly if we got him back would that not be overpowered 3 old heads. ?

Probably overkill having too much..
I have wondered if Bruce would be a good fit? Lots of experience but in his own admission, he's pretty much said he's calling time on management, so would his heart and soul really be in it? Probably not

Bruce seems to start well then leave teams in relegation zone.Bluebirdboy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 1:05 pmFair point but anything can happen at this football club as we know already up the blue birds NIEL MCDONALD BLUE WHITE ARMYolbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 1:00 pm Probably overkill having too much..

Big name little success.
Mcdonald is no Rob Kelly and has more clubs than Jennifer Lopez had engagement rings..
He at best will steady the ship.

Re: Neil McDonald’s first game in charge
Is there a Greggs in town for Bruce
Ask any Newcastle, WBA , Villa , Sunderland , Blackpool fan what they think of him
His tactics at Newcastle was to hope they were not 0-5 down , hang on till last 10 minutes , the hack the ball to St Maxim
He is abysmal , and should never work in football again
No doubt he will be wheeled out on sky …. To blather on

Re: Neil McDonald’s first game in charge
Neil did what whing perhaps should have done, he dared to change and it almost paid off.
And for me, that's what we want for whoever's in charge? It takes courage to make a change and sometimes it doesn't work but having the balls to do it is what is the difference between a winner and a looser.. sounds harsh but hey ho

Whing often changed shape - numerous Post-match interviews refer.

Yes he said that but somehow none of us noticed!, he usually threw about 4 subs on and in the end we had no shape at all
The thing is players need to know ( and be comfortable) in a starting shape, if you start messing about with different formats later on it throws all pre match plans in the air !

Maybe BUY today, the changes were not only obvious, the players responded too..
It's a spectator sport and we as well as others want to be entertained..
Won't always have it out own way but that spirit and fight shown today is worth the ticket every day of.yhe week.
Now let's do it both Half's! Especially at home.

Mac more coherent in interviews than AW and certainly stating his claim for the job. Yet again our side of supposedly poor players run rings round quality opposition. So l would say our problem is not recruitment but consistency. Semper sursum.

Re: Neil McDonald’s first game in charge
Great interview, reminded me a little of Ray Wilkie and Bobby Robson..maybe the accent??
Picked out the negatives but flipped them into positives and he just sounded "assured"
Brave making formation changes, we looked quick and slick second half.
Get that right from the first whistle and we will be a team that not many can handle.
Give home till at least Christmas imo because getting a response like that from the players shows there is something about Neil.
