Don Weavers

Please can anyone give me a pointer to the date range for Don Weavers playing for the club in the Lancashire Combination, probably mid-1960s As far as I can tell, he didn't make a first team appearance. A Bootle native?

Yes, definitely 1960s, I remember the name though never saw him play. I heard he was very good, but in fact he never made the 1st team, as you say. The booklet 'Barrow AFC - a Statistical History' (Leigh Edwards & Michael Gardner) published around 1988, list the number of appearances for all players from 1921 to 1972, and Don's name does not appear.

Played for Bootle for years, remember him playing against Swarthmoor many times when i was a kid.

Yes, I had a suspicion he may have played in the LSC, but that competition is not included in the book I have.
