So sad to hear that news, RIP Benno.
Always very passionate about the soccer and a good crack to boot. Always had a smile on his face and a wicked sense of humour had many a good laugh.
Condolences to family.

Really sad news.
A barrow fan through and through but also had an interest in Blackpool and Spurs. He spent many summers following Vickerstown cricket club. In later years he took a seat in the main stand to watch the games. After the Steelworks closed down I remember coming across him as a timekeeper in the shipyard. He would always stop for a chat about the soccer. RIP Benno.

Got talking to him in BAE a good while back, he had a job sourcing and printing off drawings in the DDH. He was a nice enough fella, quite funny but had totally washed his hands of the soccer for reasons he wouldn’t go into. RIP

Once retired he mellowed on that score and up until last season attended most home games during our time in the EFL

Very sorry to hear this . . . although I didn't know him well, I recall - as Nige says - that he was always, always, always there during those darkest of times during the 70's. God rest him.
