Squad so far

As the season draws closer and so far I've been impressed with the new players brought in during pre season games that I have seen but do we expect many more additions?
No number 3 or 10 yet

Something tells me a couple of this squad will leave esp when you see whos involved in the games so far.

Really impressed with the lads who started at the back against Mansfield and could see them starting games. Walker looked a good player and Reid showed he can finish.

Murray has made it clear he wants two more but we need people to move on before someone comes in. Hopefully Stanway going could mean one is coming in.

Getting rid of Barky probably now key; he’ll be on a big wage you’d imagine

There are only 2 options as there isn't going to be a queue of clubs wanting him:

Play him : unlikely as he's been told he's surplus
Or
Pay him off: expensive.

If there's a Q and A session on Friday its a decent question as its hampering recruitment.

Q&A is the Friday after - this Friday he’s just doing a speech ahead of the sponsors night

I can’t see anyone being paid off as speaking to me his words were “you can’t force players to leave”

The Club put him on a Contract till June 2027 so he can either sit in the stand or sit at home, nothing the Club can do about it.

Adam,
I'm assuming its gaffer you're quoting?
If the club are going to be paying him anyway surely it makes sense to pay him off and get rid.
Say 2k a week, 100 grand, do it now whilst we're according to PH (relatively) flush. Surely there's some wriggle room on a settlement figure in which case the club would actually be saving money.

Yes

Plus paying someone off would come off the budget so it’s abit of a null point as releasing a player and paying off his contract would still hinder signing a new player to replace that player

But surely instead of virtually a whole year the club could negotiate say 50 % figure, thus saving 50%?
Unless of course he has no ambition left and is happy to sit on his arse all season....

If he is being paid he should work like any other employee. If he refuses he would be in breach of contract.
I would like to think he would want to play though.

Be crazy to pay him off with a 100 grand upfront.
Between now and when his contract is up next year he could drop dead or maybe fatally get run over, and that would be the best part of a hundred grand down the swanny.
Club should just carry on paying him as normal-never know whats around the corner!
