Meet the Board Night
Re: Meet the Board Night
Sounds like yet more muddled thinking by the BOD.
It may be true that players have been put off, but negativity on this forum is surely just a symptom of a bigger issue rather than the root cause of the problem.

So are we any nearer with the development??? Does the board want to stay BSP?? The 2 key issues I wanted to know about!!! And before someone says it I was in Birmingham till 9pm last night long drive thru the night that was!!!!!

Amen to that.Reg wrote:
TK spoke about trying to get away from the 'us and them' situation and I think it's very important that we do that. I'm not sure how easy it will be, as some of the directors seemed to be more entrenched in that mentality than any of the supporters there tonight. I thought Brian was a touch defensive, Russell Dodd and Dave Ryder seemed to be on pretty short leashes and I understand perhaps why they would be given the criticism that the BOD collectively receive but if we are to truly break down barriers, folk need to let bygones be bygones and really buy into it.

1. The process is ongoing but it isn't in the clubs hands to drive the timetable for it.mickycarrol wrote:So are we any nearer with the development??? Does the board want to stay BSP?? 2. Ultimately they want promotion but they want to stay at this level rather than go down.

Did we get told which signings hadn't signed because an internet forum put them off?

Re: Meet the Board Night
GTBlue,No,D Ryder wasn't wrong at all in what he said and he certainly doesn't go public in calling people idiots either, the man has nothing at all to apologise for,all he was stating were the cold hard facts of life in terms of some of the comments that appear on this site.Of course you have the right to say what you feel, but there is a fundamental difference between saying what you feel-free speech-and bordering on abusing people, yes, you may very well have travelled thousands of miles supporting our club but,you referred to the man as an idiot and in my opinion that is out of order.
Re: Meet the Board Night
Its all about context mate. Idiotic may have been a better word perhaps.
I'm sure he's not an idiot per se BUT whilst what he said may be true it wasn't very bright to do so at a time when everyone was trying to urge recociliation and working together.

Yeah, got to agree Dave which I suppose gives all the more reason for restraint from our side with vastly superior numbers.

I think restraint and a bit of cooling off is important just for a day or two at least.
We can't keep refighting stuff, and that includes this forum. I disagree with what Dave Ryder said, but he's perfectly right to say it as he feels- he's put a lot into Barrow. I thought some of the comments were ill considered from both him and Russell Dodd, but probably borne of frustration and feeling got at.
The directors recognised that communication had to improve and that more people had to be involved. They acknowledged mistakes had been made, with the best intentions.
There was a commitment to have a proper structure and volunteer programme in place by the AGM at the end of September.
If we are a members club, we can't have a situation where the B.O.D have to financially prop us up and firefight all the time. Supporters have to work together to support the club, and help- not carp. However, the B.O.D have to really accept that help.Despite their laudable emotional and financial investment in B.A.F.C, we can't have a situation where people outside the board aren't allowed to be involved in the decision making at any points. This knotty problem is at the heart of the bad atmosphere we have currently, in my view.
It was a start last night at least. Let's try and let bygones be bygones, as Reg says, and see of we can't improve things by the end of next month.
Let's try and lighten it a little- here's to 3 points on Saturday.

No, but on that point the AGM will be at the end of September when the accountants will have a clearer picture of the clubs finances that the board will be able to report on.Manchester Branch wrote:Did anyone put a figure on how much the directors are owed?
Re: Meet the Board Night
