Much better performance, hopefully things will start to click very shortly.
Boyes was the player of earlier last season, never stopped running & in fact winning balls he really had no right to be winning.
Baker did pretty well & was unlucky not to have got three even though the one he did finally get carried a great big slice of luck.
Ruthers :? he baffles me, takes on & beats two perhaps three defender then two minutes later he's back to running up his own arse. Had a shot that he should have scored from (two weeks running now) had a chance to put Boyes through but fluffed it. How many more times will he get a start if he carries on like this?
716 - 40 = 676 home supporters is [SwearFilter] atrocious even with the start we've had. If people dont start coming through the gates in improved numbers shortly we might as well wave goodbye to BSP football by Christmas. We desperatly need a good gate on Tuesday.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Totally insulting. It's this holier-than-thou, buck-passing BOD attitude that's putting the club on the road to ruin. The one thing that the club has is a fanbase that's willing to bend-over backwards for the club.

The one thing we're lacking is figureheads that are able to channel the energy of the fanbase, not to mention present themselves correctly in the media.
Why is that insulting? when we get 676 home supporters through the gates, even with the start we've had perhaps other than the 676 in today the rest aren't hungry enough.

I thought it sounded like a fair comment..........even though I never heard it because I was there!

...and others who weren't there could ALL have definitely made it. All bow to the super 676

Bayliss interviewed 4 forwards yesterday (above)? I still reckon that more than anything else we could do with a decent and preferably experienced midfield general (somebody like a Sheridan of 4 or 5 years ago would do).

We did okay today but it has to be said that Kiddy were poor. Boyes was outstanding. Sometimes I have had major doubts about his work ethic (particularly in the second half of last season as we faded) but he was very good today and gave it all he had.

Barrow v Kidderminster match thread

Post by Heysham_Bluebird » Sat Sep 01, 2012 6:22 pm

Good game today, first half a bit slow but I enjoyed the second. We don't sound as bad as we perhaps have been, so I'll be there Tuesday, hopefully we get the balance right & get 3 points. Onwards & upwards.

Well, a totally mixed bag in my opinion. The first 20 minutes were awful it reminded me of lewes when we played them a few years back. The defence looked vunerable all game and every time they attacked I feared they might score. Going forward we looked dangerous and could easily have bagged more.
I was impressed with rutherford who (along with boyes) was our biggest threat, although he struggles to get back and cover peo who is as much as a right back as Russell dodd is brain surgeon.
baker, goal aside, was a liability he didn't pass well, just a hoof up field, couldn't defend and was constantly out of position but he does have something but he certainly hasn't shown his best, I felt as if our midfield made our defenders look worse than they actual were.
Boyes is a different class and him and jackson will be deadly and with obi in the wings I feel we have enough going forward.
all on all a draw was fair and things looked better than what I expected but there has to be a push by board and fans to get people back through the gates.
And on the 7th day god created football

I thought it was a better performance, a good game that could have gone either way- in the end a point probably fair. We just lack a bit of decisiveness going forward but it was the best I've seen from Rutherford and Baker for a while- Baker unlucky with some good strikes on goal. Boyes tireless again- he's a great player.

Nothing can be said about the crowd that hasn't been said before. Poor start / Rugby tomorrow / another game Tuesday night all goes towards a low crowd.

Still at least I could make out the nets today!

It will come good. I am sure Barrow will get up the table.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Better performance all around on the pitch, unlucky not to nick it in the end.

As for the poor attendance, the harsh reality is results bring in the fans...while we are in the bottom 4 things will stay the same!

i Dread to think of the attendance around Christmas if we are in the bottom 4, no promotional deals and people skint and bad weather

An entertaining game today
Boyes was outstanding. first touch flawless.
Baker for me, has to start every week, he is our only goal threat out of all our midfielders. 4 decent shots from distance today,1 goal and unlucky not to get another.

This.

On the point about the crowd it wasn't 716 that was announced, it was corrected after the game to 778 I think it was.
I don't know why we can't even get that right as during a few matches we announce one attendance then correct it later to something else?

It was better

It's easy to play well when the team is, so for that reason I think that's one of Adam Boyes' best ever games for Barrow, he was simply everywhere.

Ruthers was better than usual except for the sidefoot. Both Onourou and Jackson disappointed me slightly, never a pen at the end. I think Peo's a cracking defender, but I hold my hands up, he was mince today at right back and we have to do summat else.

We paid the price for a slow start, I thought we just about deserved to win.

All we can do is battle on.

Thats just a plain stupid statement.

Where did I say or try to say that another x amount of people could DEFINITELY have made it? I never! but you aren't for one second trying to tell me that another...what 3-400 people were all busy doing something they couldn't have got out of.
If that extra 3-400 continue staying away we'll be out of this league this season, without a shadow of doubt.
So even though your "all bow to the super 676" was sarcastic it'll be that hard core of supporters that keep this club going in the future whether it's in this league or more than likely the league below.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

There is clearly still bad feeling between bod fans town - id like to see the club really promote the next few games think outside the box - give some free tickets out in schools get a local company to underwrite it organise a barrow afc day with some Pre match events etc - the past Is the past let's try and get a few people in and some atmosphere going - it was like a Pre season friendly today - thought we were better than last week (much better)

It was an entertaining game

I actually think we are at hardcore now
