There is clearly still bad feeling between bod fans town - id like to see the club really promote the next few games think outside the box - give some free tickets out in schools get a local company to underwrite it maybe organise a barrow afc day with some Pre match events etc - the past Is the past let's try and get a few people in and some atmosphere going - it was like a Pre season friendly today - thought we were better than last week (much better)

It was an entertaining game

I actually think we are at hardcore now

Totally insulting. It's this holier-than-thou, buck-passing BOD attitude that's putting the club on the road to ruin. The one thing that the club has is a fanbase that's willing to bend-over backwards for the club.

The one thing we're lacking is figureheads that are able to channel the energy of the fanbase, not to mention present themselves correctly in the media.
Are you sure it was Russell? He doesn't normally feature on RC at home games as he's tied up with his BOD duties.

Thats just a plain stupid statement.

Where did I say or try to say that another x amount of people could DEFINITELY have made it? I never! but you aren't for one second trying to tell me that another...what 3-400 people were all busy doing something they couldn't have got out of.
If that extra 3-400 continue staying away we'll be out of this league this season, without a shadow of doubt.
So even though your "all bow to the super 676" was sarcastic it'll be that hard core of supporters that keep this club going in the future whether it's in this league or more than likely the league below.
FWIW I believe it is a [SwearFilter] poor crowd too, what I am getting at is that there is probably a fair few today who had other circumstances (albeit not 400), me included, which dictated whether or not they could attend today. The chances are I won't be able to go Tuesday or to Tamworth either which kills me but that's the way it is... So to say that 'other than the 676 there today there aren't any hungry enough is in fact he stupid statement.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

This.

On the point about the crowd it wasn't 716 that was announced, it was corrected after the game to 778 I think it was.
I don't know why we can't even get that right as during a few matches we announce one attendance then correct it later to something else?
Maybe it was those that arrived late when the gates were shut as they had 15 minutes to travel and thought the game might be off because of the strong sun and then went in via the Crossbar?

I will be there on 15th and 29th no matter what the weather cause I have lots of leisure time (also at Wreham and at Ebbsfleet to try their new bogs)

Not brilliant but not garbage either. Started off dreadful, picked up, went off again, picked up. We seemed to have good spells and then go backwards again and it carried on like that. That said, I thought we were the better team at the end and thought we would go on to win it. Never a penalty at the end, Obi was looking for it and fell to the ground to easy as he looked to do a couple of times.

Boyes was fantastic, Baker I thought did well, Ruthers better.

Attendance awful but to be expected.

I'm not having a go at you or anyone who couldn't make it if work/other plans/commitments or whatever got in the way of attending the match. I AM having a go at a large % of the missing 3-400 who just think it's the easy option to miss a game(s) because of the bad start we've had. That sort of attitude will send us down & make no mistake.
As football supporters people should see their team through the peaks & the troughs, thats what supporting your team is about.
I know I'm preaching to the converted here but it's the missing supporters who think they're doing the right thing by by not attending who'll be the first to complain when budgets are cut & players released.

I will still agree with RD (if it was him) that by not turning up to support our club (I'll say it again, NOT people with other commitments) some "fan's" aren't hungry enough & without them here on Saturday's & Tuesday's we will not be able to sustain this level of football, that is a fact.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Second half we were much better then I've seen us this season - actually quite an entertaining second half, enjoyed the game today for the first time this season.

Rutherford still incredibly frustrating but had a half decent game. Should have won the game for us if he'd have put his laces through the near open goal instead of side footing it dreadfully weak.

Boyes was excellent, workrate and talent still plain to see in a struggling side, really doesn't help that we're just massively bereft of luck at the moment.

Didn't see the goal but that aside I think the two centre halves considering there age and that they only met last week have been fantastic, Anderson has impressed me immensely.

We're getting better, I personally think the return of Alex Ray Harvey can't come soon enough to give us a bit of drive in midfield that we're missing.

Get yourself there on tuesday, I've got a feeling it'll be a cracker.

What do people make of Hunter?

I've seen him a few times now and I'm not really sure what he offers? He doesn't seem much of a ball winner, he doesn't seem to be particularly creative, I'm just not sure what he's all about.

We missed Owen a lot today, hopefully he'll be fit for Tuesday but he still had a bit of a limp pre match, so maybe he won't be.

Couldnt make the game today due to finances listend to most of game and sounded like we could of nicked it sounded more promising today just a shame about the crowd that must be our lowest at this level since we came up 5 years ago i think it could be lower on tues night, i think we should drop rutherford though as he keeps missing good chances hope the 3 points comes on tuesday night as crowds will drop until we end up with 600 hardcore fans.

I thought it sounded like a fair comment..........even though I never heard it because I was there!
Two main issues:

1) Anyone that makes a statement that there is a lack of interest in football in Barrow (let alone South Lakes/North Lancs, which should be our catchment area) clearly hasn't done any market research.
2) Publicly attacking your customer base is business suicide.

It's the BOD's job to persuade people that it's worth taking time away from work, families, friends and other forms of entertainment to go to Holker Street. It's not the job of the public to jump when the BOD demands it, disregarding the quality of service.

Here's my personal situation...I don't live in Barrow. This means that it costs me £15 on a train to get to Barrow, £14 to get into a game, £2.50(?) for a lazily-written program, and £3.50 for a shit cheese burger. It's getting to the point where I'd be better off flying to Munich every week, to watch Bundesliga football.

With the combination of that and life's other priorities, I manage to attend about eight home games a season. I also get to the occasional big away cup tie, buy AFC Xmas presents, have an affinity account and so on. There's nothing more I can do for the club.

I know I'm not the only fan stretched to the limit. As such, I don't appreciate the BOD constantly knocking the passion of fans, when the games have an awful pricepoint, and they aren't even advertising them to anyone outside of the hardcore 500. Ultimately, attendances are poor because there's a complete lack of accessibility and inclusivity.

Nope. That's part of the reason why I mentioned it.

I actually thought that today, he looks decent enough (for this team any way) trouble is he seems to go missing for chunks of the game then when he does something you all of a sudden remember he's there & not too bad.
He has no pace but seems to be in the right place at the right time to have the odd dig at goal, usually with some venom.

Worth his place in the team imo.

You're right, he goes missing quite a bit. Central midfielders are the pivot of the team and I like to see them more involved than Hunter has been and Baker has ever been. Neither are bad players but neither seem to have enough influence over games either. I like my midfield players to take games by the scruff of the neck. Owen does that with his tenacity but we lack someone next to him with any kind of guile.

We're too predictable right now. I think Hunter and Baker are both ok but nothing more than that. Both are probably decent earners too, which makes it more annoying that one, or perhaps both will be bench warmers when Owen and Harvey are back fit.

There is nothing we can do to increase the crowds this is upto the board to do something about it the whole vibe is bad about the football at the moment so the board need to be promoting things about the club to regain the feel good factor and the team need to string a few results together to regain some of the lost support, when was the last time had a crowd as low as today ? Sadly the football is not that appealing as people have other prioritys over the football an people want entertainment value and we are not offering this, even when we are doing well we have never been that well supported as a non league club average prob 1100/1400 in conf prem an 800/1200 in unibond/conf north I just cant see the crowds increasing unless we start winning an playing entertaining football or doing ticket promotions i think it was so low today as its the rugbys final home game tomorrow and people buying kids uniforms an holidays and the fact of having 2 home games in 4 days is expensive an some could only afford to goto the one game an had to choose
