Sadly the football is not that appealing as people have other prioritys over the football an people want entertainment value and we are not offering this, even when we are doing well we have never been that well supported as a non league club average prob 1100/1400 in conf prem an 800/1200 in unibond/conf north I just cant see the crowds increasing unless we start winning an playing entertaining football or doing ticket promotions i think it was so low today as its the rugbys final home game tomorrow and people buying kids uniforms an holidays and the fact of having 2 home games in 4 days is expensive an some could only afford to goto the one game an had to choose
Do you think that the 600 or so that were there today could create a buzz around the workplace, encourage friends/family to go ect to try increase attendances?

do you think that a reduction in under 16 ticket proces would be beneficial?

No people will look at the league table an read match reports and you would be lieing by saying the standard of football is good or entertaining so doubt it

Yes the kids are the future of the club let them in for a £1 every game its not a short term solution but could benefit us in years to come as they are the next generation of fans.

I thought the Kidderminster game was pretty entertaining as do the match reports of most people who were there.

If the club cut the prices they would get even less income because the number of extra people who attend wouldn't make up for the shortfall by cutting the prices. If we made it £1 for a kid do you think we'd get an additional 600-700 kids in addition to what we get already to equate for the shortfall - I don't think so? The club cannot afford to get less income as the present level of income isn't paying all the bills now.

Well i honestly dont know what could help bring the crowds back its not just us though some other clubs are experiencing drops in gates but ours are alot, the kids for a £1 is something to look into in the future though maybe not at present as its not feasable.I have only seen 2 games and i wouldnt say they were entertaining guess i missed a better game today then

Nope. That's part of the reason why I mentioned it.
Thanks for admitting that but if you weren't sure it was Russell you should not have gone on to say:

Regardless of the merits of the BOD they don't deserve to be criticised if the remark was not made by one of them.

But there arnt 60-70 kids there, and there should be so many more, in our promotion year, 1st year of conference there was absolutly loads of kids. If we can get more kids intrested they will bring Dad, Brother, Friends and the gate will rise.

lets say 50 kids paying £6 = £300
potencially 200 kids paying £1 = £200, even 100 kids paying £100 + Dad at £14 - it would only take 7 of the 200 kids dad (or mam i should say at this point sorry ladies) or grandparents to make up the difference from the 50 kids paying £300. 14 dads if 100 kids turn up. surely this is achievable and would get people through the gate and most importantly get the next generation hooked

I like your reasoning.
Extra bodies would also mean more programmer sold, more pints sold, more merchandise sold.
I have yet to see any evidence to say that reduced price schemes automatically means reduced income.

Not sure quite how many more pints would be sold to the extra 50 kids, but I suppose there is a decent mark-up on lemonade! And as long as they have thirsty dads/mams .... :)

The basic problem is the product. The public will come if there's attractive football on offer. OK yesterday's second half was quite entertaining, but the first half was more typical of recent fare. Mainly Barrow start with the attitude of what we've got we'll hold, so Baylis sets his team up to defend 0-0, with the hope of getting a lucky break and nicking a goal. You can't blame people for not turning up to watch boring football, week in week out. The solution is in the club's hands.

Preaching to the converted on here to be honest; not a clue how to do it but its your man in the pub at 3pm watching satellite tv that the club needs to somehow get to Holker Street. Under 10's for a £1 at every game sounds like a good start for me

The style and quality of the football is a big part of it for sure, but there's more to the "product" than that. It's the whole experience that needs to be improved. Little things can make a big difference - for example, James Owen was sat in the Main Stand during the game yesterday keeping himself to himself when he could have been strolling around the terraces talking to people (and kids in particular) helping to make folk feel part of a BAFC family. And half time entertainment was non-existent - get the tannoy announcer a radio mike and get him wandering round speaking to the fans, or let folk take a penalty against Shaun Pearson for a fiver, or anything (I'm sure there's far better ideas than those out there!)

I didn't see it myself (arrived too late) but I believe Tony Keen took the kids who usually hang around the tunnel during the warmups out onto the pitch to meet the players, get autographs etc.

Nice touch, costs nowt, probably made the day of the children. :scarf:

Save your breath Henney,I'm afraid your never gonna get your man sat in pub watching a satellite match and wearing a premiership shirt into H st.That's the way life is now,its full of lazy idle beer swilling gits that are happy to wear these shirts-never get of their backsides and proclaim themselves football supporters while using that same excuse for not coming to watch us cos the standard is crap, according to them.We all know the satellite TV games are slowly killing clubs like us so i'm afraid were gonna have to live with the gates were getting now and be aware that even if were doing well we wouldn't get more than fourteen-fifteen hundred.Plenty of opinions on here about certain players performances yesterday, and mine is that baker hides for long periods of the game-either a scientific dodger-or just not capable,Rowe!,if I had my way I would show him the door tomorrow.Having said that, remember this time last year,Southport were rock bottom-and look where they finished up,seventh.

Totally insulting. It's this holier-than-thou, buck-passing BOD attitude that's putting the club on the road to ruin. The one thing that the club has is a fanbase that's willing to bend-over backwards for the club.

The one thing we're lacking is figureheads that are able to channel the energy of the fanbase, not to mention present themselves correctly in the media.
Sorry mate Russell Dodd got it spot on, the town just is not interested enough to support this level of football sad but true. Like others have said if the gates don't drastically improve we are only heading one way eventually, and it aint upwards.
