I didn't think we were fantastic. We weren't bad either. But anyway, who cares? We're in the first round draw.

For the Boyes goal the keeper came up to pretty much the half way line to hoof in back into the Barrow penalty area. The unfortunate thing for him was Boyes got there first, poked it past him and dribbled the ball into an empty net. Settled my nerves as we were sitting far, far too deep, and just hoofing the ball back to them as we didn't have someone to chase down up top.

We weren't fantastic, but it was very very important for us to get through today and thats what matters. It was pretty tight with not a lot in it, but I think we just wanted it more than them. As for our second goal, the Tamworth keeper continuously came up as far as the half-way line whenever they had a free kick or corner. Christ knows what he was doing as he was always running the risk of something like that happening, I'd be fuming with him if I were a Tamworth fan.

Tamworth were a horrible, niggly side who seemed more interested in that than trying to win the game. Ultimately that helped cost them the game, number 2 was laughable and Almond had the beating of him time and again.

Better crowd too, and with a bit of bite in the game it actually felt entertaing so hopefully some will come back.

Morecambe away or the lowest side left in it at home please!

Our defending from corners took a test there!! I lost count how many they had the second half, about a hundred I think.

Almond's goal was well taken again, Boyes had a slice of good luck with his but nothing more than he deserved, I thought Harvey did well the first half as did Hunter, Hurst was outstanding with some crucial saves today.
Tamworth resorted to a few dirty little tricks after going one down so it was nice to see their faces after the second went in.

Had to work today so got stuck listening to the mixed commentary (Barrow v Tamworth, Workington v Mansfield), glad we are through but it sounded like an average performance. Tamworth slipping up big time at the crucial moment and Boyes being alert to the opportunity finished them off. Well done.

For any Workington fans that may have mysteriously found themselves reading this thread due to the combined commentary this afternoon. What ever Walsh says, unfortunately some of the best (read winning) sides in this league seem to play long ball especially against poor sides and it mostly works. Mansfield however are not a good side this year, despite the quality of the players in their side they are struggling, their tactics still worked though. We experienced that against league 2 Rotherham the other year, they were rubbish and all they did was hoof it long but they still won despite Barrow being the better footballing side on the day, and hitting the woodwork. Results and consistency are what it all about the higher up you go, the actual football style sadly has nothing to do with it. Shame you did not get through, but the cup is ruthless when you don't take your chances.

Now if only we could get a home tie against Carlisle.
