Does this mean there will be no ground redevelopment then? Can't see the board allowing this (the ground redevelopment area) to take place if there was to be large-scale redevlopment.

The idea behind this maitainance area is what it say's it's for - maintaining. Even if the development was passed off next week it would take years for it to be completed (I assume) therfore in the meantime any area of the ground that needs attention (within reason) could be put right through this area.
Even if/when the development was completed, parts of the ground would need to be looked after, as one of the newer parts of the ground does now - the main stand has places that need work done on them such as the frameworks for the seats that are even after a dozen years in need of replacing.
I see this as an area that will be there or in some other part of the ground for a long, long time to come so long as people (us) can put the time & effort in, not just now but in 5-10-20 years time to make use of it & help the club save money by keeping the ground in as decent a state as possible.
Everything about this so far has cost nothing to the club or supporters (I hope tomorrow I can tell you the name of a local business man or perhaps two who will be helping out hugely with some important work in there) & if it gets to the stage where we need money, which I think we will at some point, I have an idea that wouldn't affect any other BAFC fund raising activities.

I think that's a mischievious post (at best) shit stirring (at worst) Mike when I've already answered the question. It's got nothing at all to do with whether we do, or dont get the development, it's to do with MAINTAINING the ground.

No it isn't, its a stupid question. This is choosing the club nowt and will help maintain Holker Street in the interim, whilst the development is taking shape.

Ian Rainford has been working closely with me on establishing the area to undertake repair work on the ground.

His explanation regarding the need for such an area is well explained.

The construction of such an area is no way related to the development of the ground project.

The club needs such an area now and will need it even if/when the development goes ahead as the development will take some years to be completed and therefore during this time there will be many jobs to be undertaken keeping the ground in a reasonable state of repair.

If we get the development then there will always be ongoing repairs that need to be undertaken and so such a working area will be incorporated into the new build.

The project is for the benefit of the club and those fans that attend the matches. One important improvement has already been undertaken as fans will see on Saturday. All the broken seats in the stand have been replaced while the front row and a few end seats have been removed as the brackets were beyond repair. Ian is in the process of getting new brackets made and hopefully within a few weeks these seats will be reinstated and the stand will have every available seat back in full working order.

Maybe so. I was under the impression the main stand would be redeveloped and therefore it would not be worth putting in the considerable effort to make the workshop for it to be taken down again. Thanks to those who have cleared this up.

Just been up the ground now to see what I can help them out with building wise, they are doing a good job it would be good if they can get what they want to do get done .there is a lot of space under there.

Just an update on what happened today for those interested.

Mrsenario for helping shift a massive amount of rubbish, highlight being him forgetting which end of a hammer to use (planners )
John Mackay & Darren Rielly (Zigger zag) for shifting millions & millions of pieces of plywood to open up a whole new area.
Blueballs for letting us use his 4x4 for shifting an absolute shit load of rubbish.
John (sorry, forgot your second name) for taking some bags of rubbish to the tip.
Capman for popping in & offering his help with some future work (did you realise you'd actually done that )
Oldtimer for offering the staging planks, sorry we couldn't get to pick it up though, hopefully sort something soon.
Jcubb for (hopefully) picking up Oldtimers staging planks
Nigel Bamford for the offer of a wheelbarrow.
Corner 91 for getting his Dad involved.
Corner 91's Dad (Dave Stewart) who is the manager at Edmondson Electrical who came down today & absolutely blew us away with the help he has offered. I need to go into that more in another week or two, fantastic.

The upshot of this afternoons work was basically -

Clearing out so much rubbish in one afternoon, Blueballs & Mrsenario must of worked on the pyramids
Meeting some people I've never met off here.
Starting the actual area where the maintainance work area will be based.
The offer of Edmonson & Dave Stewart.

Great effort from everyone today just echoing what Ian said earlier on a lousy wet afternoon.
Good to see people offering their time and breaking a sweat for the cause either retired of straight after a mornings work and also from lots of locations.
Pure and simple, it will save the club money and to maintain it in house is just plain common sense.

Keep scratting around in those garages and sheds!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I have been busy the last two Fridays but I WILL give my time, its a great effort by the people so far and its great for the club too!

Just shows what the club means to some people, to give up free time to help the cause.
