Call me pessimistic but it was a poor performance. To be frank, both sides were as bad as each other. Bayliss says we did the dirty stuff well by shutting them out, but we seriously lacked creativity going forward. There's no point shutting teams out if you're not going to do anything in attack. I like the lad but Flynn was dreadful tonight. He got the ball on several occasions and had no idea what to do next, and as a result lost possession.

That's the negatives out of the way. We're into Round 2, and have pocketed £18,000 prize money. We are one step away - albeit tough game - from a potential big draw.

Hopefully tonight's result gives us confidence and we begin to see improved performances.

They battled and closed down very well tonight. I think first half we, pains me to say it, missed Ruthers. All the back 4 were in need of an escape goat to hit the wings but instead had to turn in and try and play football against a very motivated Guiseley.

A great end to the game, considering a few Barrow lads had some of the worst games I've seen them play in a Barrow Shirt.

Positives out of the way first - Cracking goal. I stand by my view on Hunter this season, but he's just nabbed us £18,000 so I'll let him off, for tonight.

Decent crowd.

Now the negatives. Absolutely [SwearFilter] shite performance. We are absolutely clueless going forward. Really disappointed to see the same back four start tonight. Flynn was dire on Saturday and again tonight. As another poster has said, not got a clue what to do with the ball when he receives it.

I really don't want to be negative about Hurst, but I really am starting to think that Pearson should be given a chance.

The commentator was right about the wide players tonight - lacking.

Pearson shouldn't have raised his hands to a player, thought he might have got a red for it.

All in all great to get a win and the prize money, but we cannot let that gloss over a rank bad performance - again.

One imagines that they avoided the words/phrases "goal", "has scored", "back of the net", "barrow are winning", "1-0 up" or anything else that suggests the scoreline.

I've got a lot of time for BBCRC Sport, but they need to use the phrase "goal! That's (score) to (team currently winning)" within 4 seconds of the ball hitting the netting, or I'm going to have to go round their houses for a quiet word.
