What a view of the strike we had on the Main Stand side- One of those shots you know is in as soon as he's hit it but Drench actually wasn't that far away from pulling off a great flying save. Everyone went nuts and great to see all the players and the bench joining in with the goal celebration. It was that important for us to win this game tonight and it was relief all round at the end.

It was tough on Guiseley and it reminded me a bit of how results have gone against us in years gone by despite all the effort that has gone in over the two games.

Hunter had his best game for the club tonight. In a side totally devoid of creativity, he at least tried to make something happen.
Aldred was excellent but other than that and despite the importance of the game I found myself wondering how the hell are we gonna stay in the league this season?
In central midfield, despite how many players we play there, we seem unable to control this area and seem content to pop the ball back sideways and backwards. We really need someone to stamp their authority on a game.
Tonight we had no creation from the wide areas, we badly need to bring someone in. Tonight we knocked it long and straight, lost the first ball and then tried to pick up the seconds. We've got to be better than that.
We looked to Almond tonight to be the creative spark out wide, but he can only really create for himself by cutting in-field to shoot and teams have sussed it out. If there's any money free in the budget from tonight's windfall and the release of Moore a creative wide player is a must. I'll whisper it quietly but I thought we missed Rutherford.

I thought they were a shadow of the team we played ten days ago, the team who for long periods of the game played us off the park. Tonight for large chunks of the game they resorted to high & long balls with a very large portion of cheating thrown in. How many times did one of their players go down with what looked like a near fatal injury in the second half only to carry on as though the game had just started?

Great result, goal worthy of winning ANY game, decent gate (was hoping for 1500 though) money in the bank & Macc & a 2000 + gate to come

Tonight was one of the first times I can remember listening to Bayliss after a game and agreeing with everything he said, he had massive respect for Guiseley and acknowledged that the way to beat them was to stop them playing football and 'win ugly' sometimes in football you have to do this and tonight was one of those nights. Hunters goal was a beauty and he deserved it for the shift he put in. Thought Almond had his worst game I've seen this season tonight...and yet he's still dangerous

The best performance I've seen from Garry Hunter so far, even before his magnificent winner. He showed purpose and poise on the ball, being one of the few to value ball on deck on a breezy night. A decade of loyalty to Morecambe, experienced, on early evidence I felt we had a reliable, guiding central controller. From what I've seen at home, however, he's been the weakest part of the generally effective central midfield trio. Tonight, drifting mainly to the right of centre in midfield, he was the standout Barrow performer, a magnificent 20 yard strike thumped into the far corner as his reward. More of the same, Garry!

Our well-known fraility on crosses worryingly remains. Hurst completely misjudged one attempted claim; an uncontested header from a free kick flashed wide; a near-fatal late header from a corner clipped the bar. Three regulation crosses could easily have resulted in three goals.

Dead ball situations apart, the defence was actually impressively sturdy. On a rugged night, Tom Aldred was particularly excellent - in open play invariably tight to his man and strong in the challenge. Some of the distribution from the full backs was ropey, over-hitting plenty with the wind in the first half.

Midfield, sans Rutherford, lacked width. Louis Almond threatened to sparkle down the left as he often does but, being a telegraphed tactic, Guiseley were well prepared to stifle the bright-booted starlet and did it pretty well.

Some sympathies for Guiseley who were probably the better of two evenly-matched sides in both games. The lateness of the winner - beautiful though it was!! - felt pretty harsh after 180 minutes of more than matching higher ranked opposition. They kept the ball on the floor and attempt an attractive style.

Sort yourselves from corners lads, or a powerful Forest Green Rovers side will worsen our home record further this Saturday. Must improve ASAP - however excited we all are about who may lie in wait in the 3rd Round

We were fantastic last night and perhaps it should have been 6 or 7. The boy Flynn needs to be offered a new contract ASAP before one of the big boys swoop for him. Bit of a crap goal to win it but like I say. Fantastic crowd I thought it looked at least treble that. Immense performance.
