I was at the game last night and to sum up we were the better team first half and they scored and they were the better team second half and we scored.
We played some decent football with good interchanges when the ball was played on the ground however this sideways and backward passing is not going to get us goals. Lobbing the ball forward wasn't going to work as their defenders dealt with everything and too often the ball was lobbed into spaces where there was no player anywhere near. We pushed on until the end to try for the winner but it wasn't to be.
Thankfully Telford were hopeless in front of goal and missed some absolute sitters and their fans sat with us were hilarioous in their comments about their teams woeful attempts and asking us to shout to their manager they want him out. :o My reply was we are at the bottom end of the table but we DON'T want to lose our manager.
Thank you Matt Flynn for mooning me but as usual with Barrow he couldn't bring himself to go the full distance. :o

Edit We were the Barrow 4---one better than the Histon 3. It was strange when we scored and four of us jumped to our feet amongst their fans in the stand. If there were anymore Barrow supporters we didn't hear them.

Not his biggest fan,but will allways support him cos hes our manager and he cares about our club.He does let himself down with his cutting, nasty comments at times, but I know this morning he will regret being critical towards supporters

true but the hardcore support is not enough to sustain football at this level.

We will get relegated sooner or later, as we are simply not big enough financially to compete. It would be interesting to know what the average wage of a conference footballer was in 1999 and what it is now. It is not just at our level, teams like Newcastle and Sunderland are struggling in the premiership because they are having to buy players 'on the cheap' (ie £8m instead of £20m!!).

Every year we stay in this league is a bonus for the fans and a credit to our manager.

As for Bayliss's comments, try and imagine working your balls off day in, day out, for months for not very much money, coming out of work after a particularly hard day feeling mentally drained and being told before you get to the bus stop that some people think you are not up to the job.

I was travelling back from darn sarf last night, not in time to get to the game but did manage to catch the second half on Radio Shropshire as I drove up the M6. Very unbiased, sensible commentary. Their main conclusions were -
- Barrow deserved to get something out of the game if only for their first half performance. But Telford will be ruing missing several chances to make it 2-0.
- They were critical of Hurst who apparently looked very shaky at times, but made some excellent saves in the second half to keep us in the game.
- They were very impressed with Almond, and even more so with Rutherford.
- They commented on the general lack of height in our team, saying Telford were winning the physical side of things.

BBC RC were critical of him as well, then offered to take back what they said and then demanded they take it back when he pulled of a string of good saves towards the end.

Newcastle are one of the best run clubs financially in Europe at the moment, no debt and profit.
The reason they don't spend much is due to the way the club is run, not lack of money. Wage budget is very low with no reward system. They use a large scouting system to locate lesser known players for low price, therefore not throwing away money on 'big names', something that was done in the past.

You may be right Patrick, but they are very close to the relegation zone.

There is a massive difference between, close and in. Doesn't help they have the most injuries in the league and have played more games over the last couple months then most teams, with the help of Europe.

But this isn't about them anyway.

Didn't realise their goal had a big deflection. Unlucky.
